I would like to see the following discussed during the hangout
Worker Proposal: Maintenance Worker
This is an unglamorous position whose performance is difficult to assess from the outside. However, it is a very valuable and necessary role that is needed by any project.
Responsibilities
Review submitted issues
Work on known high-priority bugs
Add units tests or advise for separate workers for them
Work on new features or advise for separate workers for them
With sufficient work to be completed, there is probably a need for at least two such workers: one for the back-end/core (93 issues and 7 pull requests), and another for the front-end/GUI (81 issues and 1 pull request).
I was the Support Engineer at my last job and I hated it b/c it was the dumping grounds for all calls and angry customers and issues. I had to fix things that I should not have had to fix and got no help/recognition (I even got the old "You should be lucky to even have a job at all" line from the then-PM).
Now I am an actual Software Engineer and am outside of the Support Desk/Maintenance level; but knowing what it entails, I have my hand and mind ever-ready to assist my current employer's support needs. I make sure to tell him how well he's doing... if it wasn't for his expertise and skill, we would be in great heaps of trouble.
I will be giving an update on my campaign as a proxy as well as the following worker campaigns:
User Interface for Easily Submitting Worker Proposals
A CoinMarketcap Advertisement in the top banner to pay for a "the blockchain is hiring"
2a) If needed I may front the money to the chain and ask for reimbursement, but this is part of the discussion to be had. I have received information from my inquiry into cost for such an ad. Will update tomorrow!
Wow, I was waiting for this post! Here is my proposal. I may not be able to participate as a speaker, so feel free to discuss this here.
I think if we tweak the membership plan a bit, then bitshares can actually have a lot more members and volume. This is a sure shot thing. Basically there are many Affiliate marketers who first used to market revsares, HYIPs etc. You might have heard of sites like MPA (Mypayingads), Bitluna etc. The top affiliate marketers brought in thousands of members (and $) just within some months. But, right now, the phase of these revshares and HYIPs has gone and basically all these affiliate marketers have shifted to crypto trading. Now their followers follow their trading tips. My plan is to harvest these marketers to promote Bitshares as an exchange and in return they will of course get ref commissions. But there is 1 issue with the current membership plan. To be able to promote ur ref link, u require the lifetime membership. Which many affiliate marketers won't be interested to buy, as they don't want to pay money to get ref link and secondly, it can't be said when they will get their ROI on it. So my suggestions:
Reflinks should be available to every BTS member, so that he/she can actively promote BTS. Lifetime members can have the 80% fee cashback as usual + other benefits like more ref commissions than basic members. Basic members can have a ref commission of 10%-15%.
If option 1 can not be implemented, then another membership plan between basic and lifetime membership should be added, with less membership fees. Also the option of postpaid membership fee should be there, so more members can buy it. The payments will be deducted from their ref commissions. No cashbacks will be available in this plan.
Further more, you can lessen the current ref commissions and add option of second level (referral of referral) ref commissions. This will boost the promotion of Bitshares even more.
I think with the simple steps mentioned above, not only Bitshares would get free marketing, but also much better results in terms of amount of members and volume of trades. This will then of course also help in increasing the prices of native BTS tokens like whaleshare. I am not a technical person, but since I have been involved with affiliate marketing and know many affiliate marketers, I can tell you that this thing works. Polo is losing it's ground and now is the best time to capture the market.
I Hope you will give it a thought.
What about a reduction in the cost of LTM membership?
I can see the benefits of making referrals open to the public, however I feel that this may open up the possibility for these links to be heavily spammed on the internet (perhaps bad image, though at the benefit of increased userbase).
I like the idea of reduced referral income for non-ltm users, that at least is a middle ground that most could get behind..
Thanks for showing interest in my proposal. Yes, I agree that ref links for everyone may make ppl spam them more all over the internet. But, it will also ensure we get much much more members and trades, which is more essential. Otherwise, we do have an option of membership between lifetime and basic. :)
Another thought it a worker proposal to get BTS/bitshares & bitUSD added to coinpayments. Have briefly mentioned this before and will explore more information in getting this done in the future.
Also look forward to checking out HERTZ.
I've only been here a couple months, so I'm not sure if this has ever been discussed. It is something that I think would be very valuable on the platform.
Has there been any talk about adding a favorites tab or window to Steemit? The more people I follow, the more my feed gets heavy. Being able to have like 10 people on a favorites list show up on a different tab would be very helpful. Sometimes, I forget to go and look at my favorite authors work for a few days.
I know that there is a way to upvote them automatically through Steemvoter, but I want to make sure that I actually READ their posts.
I would be interested in hearing about what coins//markets people are most excited about. Additionally, why are they excited about blockchain entering that market, and how do they hope blockchain technology will change that space going forward.
For clarification, I don't think answers should be restricted to new coins, just what they are currently paying attention to.
been meaning to join 2pm Friday UTC is 2am Saturday for me though haha will do my best. Have been with BitShares since PTS... I am now in love with it! one thing that would be nice is when setting collateral it could show call price in reversed pair (bitUSD value)
Could something like real-money-cryptocurrency exist for those that wouldn’t want to be virtually committed in Blockchain, but they would nevertheless support the idea (Didn’t think that some1 like that could exist until I’ve found one:D)
Yeah, you could buy some Market Pegged Assets such as bitUSD, bitCNY, bitEUR; these are tokens representative of their FIAT counterparts, so you could hold 'real-world-cryptocurrency' without the risk associated with holding volatile cryptocurrencies.
You could always fire up mumble on your mobile? Plumble on android works quite well, if you're wanting to talk I'd advise using earphones though so as to prevent feedback.
I try to attend, but when I can't I listen to the podcast. Kudos to the people who edit it to streamline the content. That makes it so easy to get thru it quickly and get to the key messages.
I would like to know your thoughts in regard to bitcoin's drivechain solution? What effect do you think it will have on altcoins? Will you list drivechain assets on Bitshares?
Not massively concerned, competition is good. Personally a tad annoyed that IBM isn't interacting with the Gridcoin community, considering it rewards World Community Grid (IBM BOINC project).
If banks and companies are getting involved in blockchain then that's good for crypto overall IMO.
Good one @officialfuzzy I attended last week Hangout and enjoyed it, thanks to @Virtualgrowth who clarified all issues for me. You guys and doing a great job, keep it up and Keep steeming guys . Upvoted
I'm going to try to attend, but I can't guarantee it with what I have going on in my life. The questions that really pops into my head that I'd love answered in-depth in the Hangout are these:
How do I properly diversify my Holdings in Cryptocurrency in order to create a 401K-style nest-egg?
Do you think Cryptocurrency will, one day in the near future, become a truly viable payment option for mainstream purchases?
Are there any plans to create Debit Cards that use Crypto as the default monetary mechanism?
How can I position myself for major movement when I don't have much money to be able to purchase/acquire BTC or other Crypto?
Is it a reliable/viable option to do Cloud Mining? and which Cloud Mining options would you recommend?
I know, there's several questions. I'm really hoping the Hangout Chat is recorded so that, if I am unable to attend, I can listen to all of the great information and/or advice.
I already think bitcoin is mainstream from my perspective, I'm no expert but when major retailers and outlets accept bitcoin, and I can buy a pint of beer from the local pub with bitcoin, in my eyes... that is mainstream.
I am also curious if cloud mining is viable, I've always kept away but if truth sticks can be shown on this subject for clarity, that'd be awesome for us newbies.
I agree completely. I wasn't aware that you could make purchases at a retailer using BTC already. That's one of the reasons I'm here, to learn and earn and share.
I should really start learning what BitShares actually are, and what can they do. Any greatly put together guides for me to feed off? If not I'll do my own research, but not before I say thanks to @officialfuzzy for putting this together!
Keep it up :)

Just want to mention my daily bitshares token giveaways:

Sign me and @sirlunchthehost in for last call. We want a lock-in! :P

Worth asking the Steem devs about this, perhaps this functionality will be delivered by a 3rd party steemit interface such as chainbb/zappl/etc?
Does this work on Android too?
meow.

Thanks for hosting!!
Are u joining?
I wish. I'm actually catching a plane in about an hour.
Thanks again for putting together everything. I'm followed and looking forward to participating next week!
IDK about others, but BTS is pretty high up on the list ;D
been meaning to join 2pm Friday UTC is 2am Saturday for me though haha will do my best. Have been with BitShares since PTS... I am now in love with it! one thing that would be nice is when setting collateral it could show call price in reversed pair (bitUSD value)
Worth creating a github issue on the bitshares-ui repo?
Listening intently! Hope to learn how to contribute between the lines.
If it comes up OL: st44m
Thanks!
Man that is a lot of speakers and metadata... I'm crawling through... Any female speakers?
Good anyway, but don't know how to go about it. Please anyone to help?
Don't know how to do what? Use the BTS DEX, or use Mumble?

If it's a functional & secure 2-way peg without segwit then it sounds quite interesting!
Minimal impact.
That's up to openledger, if someone from drivechain is willing to pay for the integration.
What's the reason for this huge devaluation on posts payouts and how long will it last?
Across all of Steemit, or the hangout threads?
On steemit.
I really want to get my LTM's paid and my worker proposal out too...
Bitshares Ebonics - One Season of Bitshares Tutorials and Explanations in Lamens Terms
I have my film crew and the studio to do it now... Now I need the support from bitshares.
I have a topic: what do you think about IBM building blockchains for banks and conpanys?
Not massively concerned, competition is good. Personally a tad annoyed that IBM isn't interacting with the Gridcoin community, considering it rewards World Community Grid (IBM BOINC project).
If banks and companies are getting involved in blockchain then that's good for crypto overall IMO.
Hi there, it is my first time to join this event, I am not quite familiar with it so please just let me know if I am not doing it in the right way.
Recently I just created a chrome extension that lets you switch between steemit, steemd, steemdb, chainbb with just one click. Please find the post here: https://steemit.com/steemit/@kenchung/steemit-platform-switcher-a-simple-but-useful-tool-2017629t223234193z
I wish to introduce this app to the community! and I am more than happy to know any suggestions for improvements, like adding other platforms etc.
So I can just put this topic here, and then this topic maybe included in the next hangout session?
Maybe. But im definitely interested in talking behind the scenes. Catch me in whaleshares discord ;)

Perhaps most appropriate to raise this topic within the BeyondBitcoin hangout rather than the Bitshares hangout? https://steemit.com/beyondbitcoin/@officialfuzzy/guest-signups-beyond-bitcoin-hangout-213-6-30-17-debut-your-project-for-usd100-s-in-rewards

Very interesting. I look forward to attending the meeting. I am very interested. Thank you very much for the warning
@officialfuzzy is bitshares related to steemit bro?
To be sincere, i am still not able to understand bitshares.
I should really start learning what BitShares actually are, and what can they do. Any greatly put together guides for me to feed off? If not I'll do my own research, but not before I say thanks to @officialfuzzy for putting this together!
Keep it up :)
They have some great guides

Hi, take a look on my article about governments and blockchain in clash this is my first serious article on steemit I`ve put in it a lot of work:
