In my Bible, at page 666, it's the book of Ecclesiastes.
Verse 4:7, it says.
"Again I saw something meaningless under the sun:
"There was a man all alone; he had neither son nor brother.
"There was no end to his toil, yet his eyes were not content with his wealth.
"For whom am I toiling, he asked,
"And why am I depriving myself of enjoyment?
"This too is meaningless -- a miserable business!"
A miserable business
Working alone, can be a miserable business
Trust me, the Bible tells me so.
Working alone, you have no one to rely on.
No one to pick you up in case you fall down.
No one to back you up.
No one to enjoy your wealth with.
Wealth? What wealth?
In this passage, the man wasn't contented with his wealth.
The Bible never mentions whether the wealth he has is a lot, or a little.
"No end to his toil", however, suggests that it was a small amount.
If all you had was a small amount, even after struggling so hard, you'd be upset , too.
I know that I would.
The right mindset for wealth
I recently heard a podcast featuring a pastor.
His name is Joel Osteen.
He said that you should believe that God has plans for you.
That you should believe in the promise.
And believe that God will send riches and opportunities to you
"Don't demagnetise your magnet," he said.
But some people do, through negative talk.
Bad vibes drives away good vibes!
Work together
The next verse is instructive.
Verse 4:9-10 says,
"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour
"If either one of them falls down, one can help the other up."
Together, we will go our way ...
That line from the Pet Shop Boys song just came to my mind.
Working alone Vs working together
It's hard to do things alone, in the long term.
But once in a while, working alone can be helpful.
Things get done quickly.
Nobody to answer to.
But sometimes, working with others makes sense.
Getting their advice when you're stuck.
Shouldering the burdens together.
Benefitting together.
It's hard working alone, most of the time.
But there are times that working alone makes sense.
And if you want to see results, working together can also help.
