A Fancy Sink

"What makes the desert beautiful is that somewhere it hides a well"
Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Whenever I exhaust the capacity of an arguement with my friend, he (since recently) has devised a cunning plan of reversing the loss of his statement against mine by asking: "What truly is the meaning of life, ha? What if you do not really exist but dream instead? What if your ego only created me to make you feel more satisfied about yourself in comparsion with someone else, you might be considering is it worse or better than yourself? Or am I, the imaginative person of from your mind realm, going to help you understand what the life means to you" You see, you can never underestimate..." At that point I already give up, still appreciating the touching thoughts of my "mentally-diffused" friend, and abstain from even looking at his lips, moving about, making strange sounds that fill up the voids in the universe (most likely, he might be thinking this way). And I have to admit that, just like yourself probably, I also asked myself the one-million-dollar-question – what are we here for? Are we the everlasting curse or mistake of ancient gods? Have we been abandonded by one or many in search of our own? Did the aliens mistakenly devise us and then dropped us onto Earth in order to playout their experiment? Or are we striving towards making our lives complete by creating jigsaw pieces with "spiritual" or "religious" content in them? I mean, that might explain all those mosaics I've seen in cathedrals at least. Whatever it might be is hard to say but the meaning of life is something special for each individual and what we make of it. But making something out of it does not really render you with a plan or something to follow anything else but the flow, which then is not an answer to the question either.
Is it the reason for many of us to grow despaired or ghost-like to the surroundings just because we cannot find that meaningful solution to fill the void and being left unanswered? Possibly yes. Or having known the answer, will we be happier and much more responsive to our lives? Or will we feel empty and our lives will be too predictable? We may just possibly be everlastingly ungreatful and contradict our willingness for answer with silence. So do we need an answer...
This could possibly be something that will come naturally to one – like one said that happiness will come to one when they do not seek it. Then someone else said [insert some random philosopher's name] that training yourself to think positively, will make you reach happiness much faster. So again – a contradiction here and there cannot be a "one-way" sort of a solution – just like if you ask someone what love is. Another topic best left for... Okay, let's not talk about this at least now – may be when summer arrives to Baltics [insert evil laugh].
But maybe it is something more than makes you feel complete in life and material things do not matter as much or add any vital connotation to perceiving your existence. Because, things are never here to stay for long and neither are the words or actions or our ideas – everything is tied in a loop that never untangles beyond change. I reckon that existing just for the sake of it already revolves around something positive and good in life and trying to understand the opportunities and mission embedded in our journey should not only be overwhelming but requires us to carry the burden of seven billion people (to understand an common equivalent to the meaning of life) - it is just not worth it and at this point, not relevant anymore. So what am I trying to say? Perceive and appreciate the spiritual things that surround you and are able to give you a better guidance to questions beyond our meaning in this life. Some riddles are just forgotten when they are answered.
