Pied crows are a subspecies of the American crow (Corvus brachyrhynchos) found in Africa. Young pied crows, also known as chicks or nestlings, are born altricial, meaning they are born blind and helpless.
They are typically black or dark gray in color, with a distinctive white patch of feathers on their forehead.
The parents take turns incubating the eggs and feeding the chicks, which are fed a diet of insects and other small animals. Pied crows typically fledge, or leave the nest, at around 4 to 6 weeks of age. They will continue to be dependent on their parents for food and protection for several months after leaving the nest.
