I haven't been Steemin' much lately, good friends, but here are some bird photos I took today in Santa Cruz, California.
In particular, this cooperative Cooper's Hawk, Accipiter cooperii, note the rounded tail:
Another cooperative model, our year-round flycatcher, the familiar Black Phoebe, Sayornis nigricans:
Next, a bright Yellow Warbler, Setophaga petechia, in the afternoon sun. This is the most common and abundant migrant warbler right now, the Yellow-rumped Warblers and Townsend's Warblers have not arrived en masse.
Finally, our newly arrived fall sparrows, White-crowned Sparrow, Zonotrichia leucophrys, at left, Golden-crowned Sparrow, Zonotrichia atricapilla, on the right:
Enjoying autumn.
