Birthing Energetics
Fear incites bodily responses related to fight or flight. The body prepares accordingly and seeks to prevent imminent death. Fear and anxiety strongly correlate with severity of pain. Relief does exist and can be sought through various channels. I will write about birth self-hypnosis and energetics to manage fear and anxiety for achieving an easier birth. These birthing energetics are mentalism, vibration, and connection.
Mentalism
The medical business behind birth is monetarily incentivized to produce fear about labor. It is good to collect an understanding of the actual complications that can arise and cultivate a true perspective on birth. Labor is usually not actually that risky. Hospitals dramatize, traumatize, and exacerbate birth routinely and are naturally useless unless a situation is life threatening. The way that we think about birth directly affects events that follow. In self hypnosis we will use meditation to silence the mind and create an ideal mental environment for birth.
Birthing conditions that may require action include:
Breech: If baby is feet or butt first and back to back position: wait until baby’s belly is showing then rotate baby ⅓ to face towards either of Mom’s legs. Slide fingers on shoulder blade towards spine to move baby’s elbows down towards chest. Sweep finger up and over baby's biceps to pull elbows down and sweep arms down over chest
No Breathing: Cord is giving oxygen initially so you have 3-4 minutes. If baby doesn’t cry/breathe for 3-4 minutes. Baby may need mouth cleared. Can use tiny gentle suction with quantity of air in cheeks.
Birthing conditions that require emergency transfer:
Cord Prolapse: Cord comes out before baby or baby is straddling cord. This is dangerous because it would tear out the placenta and then the baby would have no source for oxygen.
Placental Abruption: Cause for baby suffocation, the placenta must wait until after birth to detach.
Transverse: Single arm comes out and no sign of head.
Momma goes into shock or excessive bleeding.
Fetal Distress: When fetal heart rate becomes too high or low between waves, 110-180, and different labor positions don’t improve it.
Vibration
Relaxation is a higher vibrational frequency that has more conducive benefits than negative fear vibes. Relaxation releases positive endorphins and chemicals that bring comfort. Fight or flight vibes significantly correlate to severity of pain. Relaxation helps to eliminate fear and pain and results in easier more effortless birthing. Breathing practices during self hypnosis will greatly impact our vibration. Breathe love, feel love.
Connection
The subconscious connects with our conscious communication and generates outcomes accordingly. It is good to practice communicating positive words instead of negative. I like to use ‘wave’ for ‘contraction’, and ‘discomfort’ for ‘pain’. Other options include ‘surges’, ‘pressure’, ‘sensations’ and ‘tension’. Positive affirmations should be promoted as they subconsciously connect with good beliefs and establish better outcomes. Post hypnotic suggestions are also good for making subconscious connection.

Birth isn’t something we suffer, but something we actively do and exalt in.

During transition:
Don’t give up what you want most for what you want now
This will not last forever.
We looked at birth mentalism, vibration, and connection. These birth energetics help to provide an easier birth. Fight or flight fear correlates with pain and can be relieved. Next, we will look at self hypnosis, and a few beautiful strategies to nurture relaxation, comfort, and soothing sensations during birth.
Birthing Self-Hypnosis Techniques

Open Eye Trance
Starting with a peripheral gaze is one method for open eye self-hypnosis. Focus on your peripherals and zone out focus, like daydreaming. Try to see the outside corners of your vision from top to bottom slowly down and slow up. This method can support hypnosis speed reading.
One very popular birth technique is the ‘finger drop’. This combines an instant trance with open eye capabilities into one. The goal is to lift right index finger with intent and drop it while closing eyes to go instantly into hypnosis. This accompanies visualizing a light switch. Off is eye closed hypnosis, center is eyes open hypnosis, on is conscious awareness.
Instant Trance
Communicate a cue by word or gesture to go instantly into alpha, relaxed, and in a hypnosis trance state. A verbal cue like instant trance can be used by you or your partner to bring you into an instant state of hypnosis and deep relaxation. A gesture like pressing index finger and thumb together with intent while closing eyes can also work as a cue. Visualize and Affirm that the more you do it the more you improve.

- Visualize slowly dipping hand into a bucket of frosty aloe. Imagine a layer freezing to form a flexible icy glove that cools and soothes. Notice difference of feeling in rest of body. Feel the glove’s coolness and soothing and allow hand to relax.
- Imagine the relaxation, soothing, and cooling in hand becomes deeper through every breath.
- Word cue ‘alleviation’ for this hand state relief. Place hand on desired area to spread this comfortable coolness. Visualize frosty energy.
Hypno Anaesthesia (Transition or Emergency C-section)

- Imagine numbness and feelinglessness in hand deepening through breath
- Word cue ‘hand anesthesia’ for this hand state numbness. Place hand on desired area to spread this numbness. Visualize as freezing anesthetic energy.
These four methods are the common birthing self-hypnosis techniques. Their effectiveness is amplified by proper approaches to birth energetics. Birth does not need to be scary or cause anxiety. Finding relaxation goes a long way for decreasing pain.
