Of course there's price manipulation. I saw some today on Coinbase. A sell/ask wall was set up and settled around 1030 in Ethereum while prices were trending down towards 1020, thinning volume of bids. Once the price reached near 1020, the sell/ask wall mysteriously disappeared. Buying resumed, allowing prices to increase again. If there's no news, there's no reason for volatility. Traders make money on volatility, external or manufactured. Investing is a game that allows for price appreciation and an increase in value for all stakeholders. Trading is a zero sum game that takes money from the naive and greedy and gives it to the experienced and greedy.
