Bitcoin Transaction Fee's - So Much Better

in #bitcoin7 years ago (edited)

I recently just made 2 bitcoin transactions and i must say I'm loving the lower fees since Segwit was supported.

€0.90 fee on both a transaction of €95 and €10.
Before on a transaction of €95 i would have been paying around €15 fee, which often made me not want to use bitcoin but now its very accessible.

Lower fees like this should attract a lot more people to the currency and make it more accessible for purchasing everyday items which a legitimate currency should be able to do.
So lets hope this helps towards legitimising bitcoin.

Well. Regarding fees. Did you try litecoin?

No, i know litecoin have nice small fees but ive just always used bitcoin.

You are from UK, right? How's coinbase doing there?

I'm from Ireland and its doing fine, no problems

Thanks for the tip. Fees are killer, I am in Canada if I use coinbase its around 2% to transfer money in, coinsquare a canadian exchange charges me 5%, then theres dust on the trade, and if I want the money back into my account another 5% to deposit fiat into my account, need to make 15% just to cover fees, its ridiculous, and this is still cheaper than trading stocks.
We need change, even with decentralized currency there are still overpaid gatekeepers

I bought €100 of bitcoin with coinbase and was charged €3.99 which i didnt think was too bad.

That's 4% and I bet you pay another 4% to convert back to £ there's 8% you need to cover fees, then you have trade to buy alt currency and back to bitcoin to exchange into £, you lose 10% on transactions, means you need to be trading in and out of positions with at least 20% gains and more if you are trading small positions. This creates a speculative market and takes credibility away from the underlying securities giving credence to statements like what we just saw from Jamie Dimon. I don't think that he is right and continue to invest in cryptocurrency, but there are underlying problems that will need to worked out. Comparitevly I see these icos and a lot of the alt currency like penny stocks, lots of pump and not much substance. This is just my opinion and obviously means nothing

The fees have def become more palatable. In a way, if BTC continues to make updates without to much nonsense (BCH) - LTC will become useless.

I am happy, finally, the fees are lowered, I remember paying over $20-$30 just for one purchase!

Yes it used to be crazy, only about 3 weeks ago i was charged $52 for a transaction of $220, lets say i didnt go for it.

Damn, that's insane! I hated using Coinbase for that reason but i guess i can use it again now!
