Its value is based on speculation and the minimization of your work
The only thing I would think of is that USD is more stable than the cryptocurrencies. Let's take BITCOIN for example which jumped to 20K and than back to 12K. How could a company do business using BITCOIN and selling goods with 20K and in a matter of weeks having 12K instead which would need to buy materials to build things again. I think this is the major problem of the cryptocurrencies - the volatility. But this I think is the price of the free market, free will and we all know that it does rebounds in time. But, for short time it is hard I think to use cryptocurrencies in commercial transactions.
