Robert Shiller has the opinion, that Bitcoin doesn't have a value at all! Because of that, it cannot be compared to Gold or other commodities, which will remain valuable even after a lot of hypes. He concludes, that the most famous cryptocurrency will sooner or later totally collapse. Nevertheless it could be used for another 100 years, but not at a such high rating. Shiller won the Nobel Prize for Economics in 2013. He is one of the best experts worldwide for "Inefficient Markets".
What do YOU think about this? Are there some positive differences between BITCOIN and STEEM?

I think the long term prospects of Bitcoin are still to be determined. Personally I think that another crypto will become the standard. Bitcoin really was a proof of concept and we are already seeing a lot of new coins coming out that address some of the short falls of Bitcoin. Currently Bitcoin is still the gold standard of crypto and it will probably hold that title for some time to come. Blockchain technology is really in its infant stages and I am sure over the next few years this space will really grow and develop and I am sure that no one really can predict where it will go at this point. I do think that some form of crypto will become widely adopted as a form of payment worldwide.
Regarding the life span of STEEM, I think it could last a lot longer than Bitcoin since their is a practical application that is successful and attracting users. As long as people are using STEEM, there will be a need for the platform and currency. I do think it will outlast Bitcoin as Bitcoin's life expectancy really is only going to be as long as it remains the gold standard.
I'm looking also very positive at the future of STEEM. Since there is a whole new "universe" arising, with all these other applications which you can just login with your Steemit - accout, such as D-TUBE and D-SOUND, it will be just a question of time, when every user will turn back of FACEBOOK, YOUTUBE and stuff.
The prediction of the BITCOIN future is in fact much more difficult. But I think, that we didn't see the famous "IRRATIONAL EXUBERANCE" yet. The BTC - Price could firstly go up till $50.000 or even $100.000 bevor really crashing down with the whole stock market in 2 years or so... in my opinion....
man, if BTC hits 100k I am cashing most of it out :)
That will be the time, when you should already have cashed out EVERYTHING of it! =D

Actually I'm not much into analysing the crypto charts yet, but I think that we have to look at the whole international stock market, if we want to predict something like the next big crash. I checked that you are also into trading! So, maybe in a few days I will make some posts about the "BIG PICTURE" and would really like to listen to your opinion.
