What do you mean by hot wallet brash? Did you have the a full node synced and ready? I'm currently downloading the bitcoin classic chain and it's taking forever. Any suggestions on a quicker way? I don't trust Electrum Cash.
The stuff I read about the developer who compiled that and chose to remain anonymous concerns me. I don't have Electrum installed, just clean private keys from paper wallets. By "clean" I mean I've already moved the BTC off them, but they should have BCC there.
Maybe I'll try this today, but I'm not a fan of installing software that isn't trusted by the community. Glad to hear it worked out for you. I think the second machine (one with nothing else of value) may be a good way to go.
What Electron Cash server are you using? I'm trying to follow instructions here and not making much progress. Seems to disconnect from electrum_abc.criptolayer.net:50012:s over and over again. I'm googling around, not finding much help yet.
I spent all night on it and never got it to work. Pretty frustrating. :( I could never get it passed errors like this:
[electrum_abc.criptolayer.net] catching up from478560
[electrum_abc.criptolayer.net] requesting chunk 237
[Blockchain] verify_chunk failed bits mismatch: 402736949 vs 402757890
Or if I'd start on a single server I'd end up getting stuck on block 478576 with errors like this:
Exception in thread Thread-3:

So far, it has defeated me, and I really hate being defeated.
I got a little help in IRC, but not enough to make it work. Maybe my comp has some funky python setup or something. I dunno. I'm done fighting with it.

Electron cash, on a second machine.
and you have to move your bitcoin to a new electrum seed first. that's how I did it

Thanks!

~/.electrum/blockchain_headers
as it was set to the wrong chain. IRC to the rescue! :)I used the standard one... I guess. already uninstalled electron though
