Bank Indonesia (BI) will ban payment transactions using bitcoin by 2018. This bitcoin ban will be regulated in Bank Indonesia regulations (PBI) that are planned to be issued in the near future.
Onny Widjanarko, Head of BI Transformation Program Center, said that in PBI electronic money that will be out in the near future, will be set one of them about bitcoin.
The rules concerning the use of bitcoin are not yet clear, because BI has no specific rules regarding this. To that end, BI is still conducting an in-depth review of bitcoin, whether it will be regulated in an electronic money bill or separately for example to be included in a criptocurrency PBI.

I think this is wrong, Big banks are now threatened by Bitcoin so these try to resolve the problem by deleting it. This is what China done and it didn't work, China tried to bad the use of Bitcoin with in the country, everybody went to Hong Kong to mine the coins. You cant stop Bitcoin theirs no stopping it!

BItcoin is in present situation very demand-able coin. It has become a stable source of passive income for a lot of people.
It may take Indonesia a bit longer to accept new financial technology.
However, progress can not be stopped by prohibiting it.
