Cryptocurrency, Blockchain, and ICO Basics
Hello, my name is Robert and I'll be your guide to help you on your journey of understanding what cryptocurrency is and the technology behind it. First, we have to treat this as an open experiment. The reason being, is that even though the technology (Blockchain) has been in use since 2008, we are barely comprehending its full potentials. This web page will act as a resource center for you to 'get started', so that you can understand the basics and then determine where you want to go...
Before we begin, we need to go over the backbone of what cryptocurrency is. The root DNA of this frenzy is called, "The Blockchain". Blockchain is a technology, similar to computer programming languages, networking, databases or radio frequency waves. Best known for P2P (Peer-to-Peer) transfers, transparency and decentralization; Blockchain embraces all of these attributes as well as features to break the old traditions and habits. Imagine, not having to visit a bank (or use the banks) ever again or make an appointment at the DMV or worry about spam/viruses on your devices! These are just a few real-world ideas and problems that blockchain can solve and become a solution for everyone! to adopt and become successful with.
Hopefully you're still with me! Comprehending this vast, complicated and exciting new technology may seem overwhelming, but truly is necessary. Now, you're probably thinking, "How does this all play into cryptocurrency?" Well, the first cryptocurrency; the Godfather of them all; "Bitcoin" is a cryptocurrency that was introduced with the Blockchain. It was the first digital asset, which was sent P2P. It was a successful transfer of digital currency and thus, was born a revolutionary concept of sending "money" without a third-party intervention. A bitcoin back in 2008 through 2016 was valued well under $100, now, Bitcoin has surged and continues to hit markets highs of $10K!
Let's now visit the cryptocurrency market, which is much different than a traditional trading platform (think stock exchange). The ultimate difference: THE CRYPTOCURRENCY MARKET NEVER SLEEPS! Yes, you'll be entering a world that can be volatile, hostile and like a scene from "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly". Watch as I explain how to identify a cryptocurrency, view details and watch for gains/losses using the tools provided on CoinMarketCap.
This quick overview should have provided you with some insight and be an eye opener of what the future has in-stored for us. Not only will this change they way we do business, but it will also promote more transparency, less pollution and a futuristic utopia! You can now take the next steps and decide if you're ready to invest and/or put your skills to the test and build your own blockchain solution!
Resources & Guides
Let's first start by purchasing your first cryptocurrency through Coinbase. Coinbase is a very popular and safe cryptocurrency exchange with a simple UI and plenty of security features to give you piece of mind when investing! If you use the link provided, we both will receive a referral bonus of $10 worth of Bitcoin. At first glance, you'll be shocked and probably speechless of the price of a coin, but don't stress, we can always start investing with $1 or up-to $15,000.00. The bonus does apply for depositing at least $100, though!
After you've completed setting up your Coinbase account and transaction, you're then ready to create a wallet. A wallet is like your personal bank. The wallet I'm providing is called MyEtherWallet. It is an Ethereum client-side (web based) wallet, that holds ER-20 tokens and cryptocurrency. You can also setup a Bitcoin wallet, using this website, https://blockchain.info.
You've conquered the most important and challenging steps! Congrats! Now what? There is so much to explore and venture into, but what you'll need to do is take baby steps and keep yourself engaged with the news, types of projects that are being developed over the blockchain and ultimately decide if you're going to invest short-term, long-term or both! Below are some quick references for you to start. Thank you and enjoy!
Exchanges | News | ICO's |

These are a few exchanges that I use personally for trading various other currencies. You should always use 2FA and other security measures when joining and logging on to any exchange. Have fun trading cryptos! | Keep up-t0-date with news, information and trading trends. Typically, good news will drive the markets towards a bullish run and a negative tone will keep investors at bay by becoming bearish... | ICO's are high risk, high reward investments. I do not recommend them at all, unless you have a good understanding at the risk measures involved. Always do your research, due diligence, review the project, team and learn from the community before you even decide to invest! |

My closing thoughts, disclaimers and tips as well as unprofessional advice. Only risk what you can afford to lose! If you have an extra $500.00 and want to try a new investment, then I think this is the perfect time to jump on the train.
