Quantum computers are coming online this year - and they might pose a threat to bitcoin, ethereum, and even modern cryptography. Find out what they can do and if this threat is real.

Is this video about Quantum Resistant Ledger qrl?
No wayyyy!!
Another great video! I wish I knew more so I could try and make a call, but I don't know much about these types of computers. It is fascinating to watch technology more forward though. Thanks for the info.
If (when?) quantum computing manages to break public key cryptography, we're going to have a lot more problems than just crypto-currencies being potentially hacked.
Of course that's assuming nothing changes. I would guess when quantum computing eventually does become more mature that we'll see a shift from current cryptography standards to ones that are more resistant against quantum computing, like we're already starting to see in some cases (such as Iota). While the transition may or may not be easy, I would expect cryptos and the internet at large to adapt over time before it starts to become a major problem.

more future promises - so far Steem is the only coin that Ive found that actually does things - there are a lot of promises out there - and a lot of deadlines passed with nothing manifested

"When someone has a quantum computer, no one is really going to feel safe anymore."
The future is here! But it's okay too! There are ways to encrypt quantum algorithms. But this is a huge problem for all payment systems already in place that use binary computers and prime factorization encryption. If you are interested in quantum encryption check out this pdf:

The rising price of crypto's will just accelerate the arms race.
