Bill Gates is a smart man however it he does not understand the attributes of cryptocurrency. He may know about bitcoin but I doubt he knows about privacy coins like Pivx, Verge, or Monero who can easily hide identity. Bitcoin is also very traceable as per the FBI and CIA. It's up to the user to use crypto for illegal activities, but you can also do the same with paypal or venmo. With cash you can also just send a messenger to do your running around, with that it gives you some anonymity.
Bill Gates was also totally against Internet and the web and didn't want to implement it, until MS finally gave up.
And Gates' bad vaccines are killing people if not directly spreading disease. He is also in love with Common Core - the US indoctrination education. So much that his own kids aren't using it, because they are superhumans who don't need to be brainwashed like sheeple.
And of course he doesn't take his own vaccines as they are made for killing off poor people. Elitist peace of shit! He is great at stealing innovations though, so you have to have respect for him.

it is rather pathetic seeing Bill Gates trotting out the same old dark net nonsense. As you point out the U.S. dollar is the biggest medium for drug dealing in the world by several orders of magnitude.

Exactly! Using Bill's logic we would have to ban Windows. Can you imagine the numbers of crimes that have been committed using Windows computers. This really shows the difference between people that believe in centralization and control like Bill, and those that believe in decentralization and freedom.

But cryptos cut out the middle man, so the corrupt officials in the government and the money laundering banks can't get their cut of the business.
In USA both the drug deaths and profits for the illegal drug trade have sky-rocketed the last years, and the "authorities" (the part of the mafia with badges and positions) also benefit greatly as they are getting every increasing asset forfeiture (without any court involved) which basically means that the Police is dependent on drug trade to get their income, so they have to let the illegal drug trade expand to keep their jobs.
If all drugs where legal and you could buy them securely with immutable reviews on the distributed ledger, the drug problem will become very tiny. There is still a problem with drugs that are used to kill and/or control other people, but it's better if everyone have them, than that only criminals in CIA etc have them.
If you want to learn more about the drug trade, how it's connected to uranium, the Navy, CIA, FBI and terrorism, check out George Webb on Youtube (I'm still trying to get George here, but Youtube for some reason doesn't dare to mess with him. George is suing Podesta, Hillary Andrew McCabe and so on, so he is clearly someone that you don't want to mess with if you're running a shady business.).

Blockchain technology and the transparency it provides will actually improve the concerns of money laundering given how its traceable. The privacy coins only account for a small portion of the market. Crime will always happen, no matter what asset is used to transact so the comment is way overblown. Even Microsoft will look to capitalize on the technology...

Bitcoin kills lives? I know he's rich but that sounds stupid. It's not bitcoin killing lives but the corrupt officials in the government who don't wanna do something to stop crime and tolerate drug trade because who knows how much money they're making?
