The US major stock and futures exchanges have generally had a negative view of Bitcoin and trading on the cryptocurrencies.
That may be about to change, however, if CME Group has its way. CME Group operates a futures and derivatives exchange and plans to add a contract for bitcoin futures perhaps early next month.
Terry Duffy, CME Group CEO, told CNBC that he expects the exchange to list a bitcoin futures contract “sometime in the second week of December.”
A futures contract listing brings with it many complex financial strategies for handling price volatility, something that has been a persistent characteristic of bitcoin. The exchange could halt futures trading, match long and short positions, as well as other methods for keeping a market working.
You can see the video of Mr. Duffy’s discussion here:
What do you think? Will this help control bitcoin volatility or make it less attractive to investors and/or users?
Mainstream BIG time ;) UP...
Very likely, yes.
