Here are my top 10 bitcoin/crypto predictions.
- Coinbase will (in the next 12 months) be sold to a major bank after the IPO market collapses.
- Amazon (and therefore all other online retailers) will accept major cryptos starting later (October-ish) this year, just in time for the holiday season.
- For better or worse 2018 will be the year that bitcoin will become financialised, think ETF's, futures, options, etc. Investment bank/hedge fund/sovereign wealth fund involvement, etc.
- Bitcoin Cash will drop to below $100, perhaps even $50 during August.
- Bitcoin Cash will be worth at least $500 by 1st January 2018.
- Coinbase will start supporting Bitcoin Cash before 1st January 2018.
- Segwit will be like the Segway. i.e. Great technology but not the life changing revolution we were promised.
- Monero will have a great 2018.
- Many of the more dubious alt-coins will have a very rough 2018 as people wise up that many of them are useless, scams or inferior duplications of more successful products.
- Investors looking for a safe haven for their cash will increasingly chose cryptocurrency over traditional banks or precious metals. Bitcoin will be seen as the safest coin of all. If extraordinary economic circumstances prevail we could see $10,000 BTC in 2018
