This is a short chart to look in retrospect over the past 80+ years of legacy markets which list the historical reasons why individuals may say " I don't want to invest my money now because". Fear uncertainty and doubt have always existed, they just take different manifestations over time. While this chart is dated, it is important to remember that even within the chaos and the time of uncertainty that exists at present there has historically always been a reason for fear uncertainty and doubt. The individuals that practice 'delayed gratification' reap the reward whereas individuals that practice 'instant gratification' do not. When it comes to investing, one important aspect to control is your willpower. Willpower broken down into practical terms may be delaying eating a marshmallow now to be able to eat 2 marshmallows in 15 minutes. Willpower can also mean not spending $60,000 when you are 30 on a depreciating automobile and instead investing in what you understand to be able to retire years and in some cases, decades earlier than expected. Willpower is like a muscle, the stronger that muscle, the stronger the ability to delay gratification and reap its rewards.
