There has been a lot of build up. Small moves have presented themselves up and down so far. At the exact moment it halves, most likely nothing will happen.
New money is waiting and so is long money. Money will need to move before the show begins.
As far as the impact on people that use bitcoin on a daily basis. There will be bad days(price drops) and good days(price is up).
In the long run, Bitcoin has a bright future and those of us that use it will be just fine!
