The Port Authority of Valencia, Spain, presented in the event Smart Ports & Supply Chain Technologies Conference , held in Rotterdam, its strategy for the implementation of technologies associated with the concept of smart port, as a provider of services based on the technologies of Big Data and Blockchain . The port of Valencia aspires to be the third most important in Europe.
According to information on the port's website, the head of new technologies of the Port Authority of València (APV), Jose Garcia de la Guía, said: "From Valenciaport we proposed the use of the Blockchain as a strategic option to give visibility, extreme to the extreme, of the logistics chain; going even beyond our PCS. That is, we contemplate giving service to both the companies that are incorporated into our Port Community Systems and those that do not, and we will achieve this with technologies in the cloud exposed to the need for permanent adaptation to change ".
The web also explains that hosting the new technologies applied to Big Data and the Blockchain will use the advantages of working in the cloud. Regarding the Guide said:
We are going to a port without papers, with a powerful technological component and in any part of the world; what takes us to have a new PCS platform without technical limitations or growth, to offer new services and improve existing ones to a port community in continuous growth with new criteria for optimizing infrastructure resources, reducing development times and costs of maintenance".
The Smart Ports & Supply Chain Technologies Congress was organized by Port Technology (PTI) on October 2 and 3 in Rotterdam (The Netherlands) and its objective was to discuss the role of industry in the integration and leadership of technology as well as to present to the sector the latest projects and technological advances of the so-called "smart ports", in addition to the novelties in optimization of the supply chain. During the forum, they have analyzed aspects such as the digitization of ports, the intelligent supply chain, collaboration and standardization, the chain of blocks and the exchange of data, intelligent global trade and the challenges in a market driven by the chain of E2E supply.
