Well here it goes my first post! For those that don't know my background I own a landscaping company in Charlotte, NC and my beautiful girlfriend is a bartender in uptown Charlotte. So we work a little different schedules so my nights I am for the most part free. So I have a friend Bill back in August 2017 call me and say "Mark you have to check this Bitcoin thing out", so of course I talked to him briefly and ignored him. I think at the time BTC was at maybe $5k or something, so I keep seeing his posts every few weeks, BTC $5500, BTC $6000, BTC $9000, so now like so many of you it took my until November 29th, 2017 (Because I really do think this is the date that will change my life.) to get involved in this.
Like many I did a little research and saw that many people where making tons of money with BTC, so I was very intrigued. I had some savings money that I have been just holding onto waiting for an opportunity to invest in. So I started with $700. Bought some LTC because it was the cheapest of them. Waited I think maybe 3 days and it went up like $70. So I SOLD. So I'm like OK, I can make some money here. Waited a week to get paid. Got paid, and then realized OK, maybe there's something here. Nobody really knows about yet too much. This could be a great opportunity.
December comes BTC reaches $17k and I'm making some money buying and selling. Started telling my friends about this opportunity. Now I'm researching signing up for exchanges and really trying to get as much knowledge as I can fast because word is starting to go mainstream. So I'm buying and selling not knowing what the hell I'm doing and was making some money. My account was at $12k profit!!! In like 2 weeks time. So of course I'm telling everyone...I was so excited of the opportunity to become wealthy fast!
I panicked sold a couple of times which I know for all you HODLER's out there would kill me for admitting this, but I did.
Well of course it wasn't the case as we all know now what happened, BTC went to $20k and has since plummeted to $6k, but has hopefully since maybe found a bottom. But through this experience of ups and downs I began learning about blockchain, cryptocurrency, and its value, I realize there is a true opportunity to make money short term and long term. As I follow certain crypto groups in Facebook and I continue to educate myself with the ever changing information good and bad (FUD), I want to help educate newcomers with good intelligent information if I can. Or at least inform people of what I'm hearing. Not give financial advice, but let people know what's going on.
So if there's a question you have or story you would like me to share please let me know. I would enjoy reading how each of you began your journey into Crypto as I think it's great for me to show others. Thanks again and I appreciate your time.
I got involved when a friend showed me coinbase. I'd already heard ted talks bit i wasn't sure about it. Never looked back.
It's been an exciting ride. I have become a much more patient investor/trader. Learning market trends, etc. Knowledge is key. Just going to keep posting good or bad news that I hear. Focus on less FUD and more FACTS!
