Long story short I withdrew SBD equivalent to around $640 when converted to my country's fiat yesterday. 20 hours had passed and the transaction is still unconfirmed. I wish I visited Blocktrades before I did so I knew why.
So lesson 1: Visit @blocktrades before you withdraw anything.
Here is an excerpt from their post:
Please be aware that bitcoin transaction fees have spiked again, delaying a number of bitcoin transactions sent from our site in the past 13 hours (in other words, we have sent transactions that haven't yet confirmed after 13 hours).
I once again repeat my recommendation to use Doge, Litecoin,or ETH if possible if you are ultimately trying to get to your native fiat currency. A similar recommendation applies if you are trying to buy from our site: if you are in a hurry to make a purchase, right now I would suggest paying with something other than bitcoin until the congestion on the network subsides.
So now I'm stuck here, left to wonder what has happened to my precious Bitcoin.
And this graphic from https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions certainly does not help:
Not only that but inspecting my transaction revealed that I paid $160 in fees. As a store of money Bitcoin is really failing badly right now.
So remember guys, visit @Blocktrades before you withdraw. Or transfer your SBD to an exchange first(I haven't tried this yet so I cannot confirm if this is faster or not.)
The dogeking, needs to use Dogecoin next time.
I hope all works out in the end for you <3
