This November the government of Australian’s New South Wales (NSW) launches a state program of digitizing the drivers’ licenses for storing them in the Blockchain. The first lucky people to receive Blockchain licenses will be 140 thousand drivers, from 2019 the practice is planned to be implemented everywhere in the country.
Australian IT company Secure Logic is responsible for the realization of the initiative, which was already successfully tested in a single Australian town. The licenses will be stored in a decentralized network, where they can be authenticated and presented via a simple mobile application. Drivers no longer have to carry physical documents to verify their identity or age. They also can use Blockchain licenses in bars and shops. In fact, this initiative will allow the residents not to carry any paper documents at all!
This became possible due to the bill passed Australia in May, which granted residents to present license data digitally. Australia is extremely supportive of the technology of the distributed ledger and even launched a global program for the digitization of the economy, which includes implementation of the Blockchain at the state level.
This practice can be implemented all over the world with the help of ENDO Protocol, a Blockchain protocol with wide capabilities and great functionality.
