On Monday, March 19, the US Federal Marshals Service plans to auction off about 2,170 confiscated bitcoins for a total of $ 25 million. Registration of participants and making a minimum deposit of $ 200,000 will last until March 14. This is reported by CoinDesk.
As the publication notes, 14 individual lots will be auctioned: two for 500 BTC, eleven for 100 BTC and one for 70 BTC.
The origin of most confiscated bitcoins is indicated on the official website of the department. Some coins are associated with the case of former US Secret Service agent Sean Bridges, who was sentenced to imprisonment for stealing bitcoins during the investigation of the DarkNet Market.
Earlier, US marshals launched 3,813 bitcoins with a hammer.
