Cryptocurrency individual retirement account (IRA) firm Bitcoin IRA has partnered with Genesis Capital to allow retirement account holders to earn interest on their cryptocurrency and cash holdings. The partnership enables Bitcoin IRA users to lend out their assets through cryptocurrency lending firm Genesis Capital and earn interest. The lending program is set to begin in November and will accept bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), litecoin (LTC), and privacy-oriented cryptocurrency zcash (ZCASH) at launch.
Apple users, rejoice! You will soon be able to tip your top content creators with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT). According to a post on redit the team behind the privacy-focused Brave browser is moving closer to implementing ad rewards for its iOS applications. The deadline is set for Nov. 6 with 21 issues left to be resolved. That means that the team could issue an official announcement for Apple users in a couple of weeks. Integrating rewards into Brave on iOS was long overdue for the Brave team.
Facebook Inc. has a warning for those in Washington determined to derail the company’s plans for creating a cryptocurrency: doing so would be a huge win for China. David Marcus, the executive leading the company’s Libra initiative, said Beijing is plowing ahead in trying to stand up a digital payments system with global reach even as U.S. officials try to figure out how to regulate Facebook’s coin. Marcus said, Chinese progress could represent a real threat to U.S. influence.
Jason A. Williams, a co-founder and a partner at Morgan Creek Digital fund, a colleague of the Twitter-active Anthony Pompliano, has cited the BlanB crypto analyst. The latter says that after the upcoming Bitcoin halving next year, the market value of BTC will total $1 trln, which means that the BTC price will skyrocket to $55,000. The miners’ reward for each new generated block will be cut by two, therefore making BTC rarer and more slowly injected to the market than previously.
The Tron Foundation becomes a strategic investor of the Biscuit game studio, which plans to relaunch its popular blockchain game EOS Knights on Tron. Tron has become a partner and a strategic investor of the Biscuit.io game producing studio famous for its EOS Knights game. It is ranked number nine on Dapp.Radar and has a maximum of 6,000 players per day. EOS Knights, initially developed on EOS, is going to be released on Tron under the title Knight Story. It will be powered by TRX and other Tron-based coins.
Despite the price tussle in the last month, institutional investors have started to go bullish on Bitcoin again, as evident from the increasing number of investors going long on CME’s Bitcoin Futures market. The number of investors going long on Bitcoin has started to rise again, after falling to almost zero. Currently, the long-holdings on CME have just gone above 1,100. Since 18th October the volumes of Bitcoin futures on CME have increased from 7874 contracts to the current position of 8234 contracts.
A blockchain and DNA-based fuel tracking solution for fuel oil has launched after a pilot in the Netherlands, where the company added DNA markers to bunker fuel oil. The new solution combines synthetic DNA markers and blockchain technology to trace the fuel and make it possible to track any changes made to it. The company then records each transaction in a blockchain-based system to manage risk for marine fuels by creating a transparent chain of custody.
Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman Heath Tarbert believes the crypto world will see ethereum futures contracts sometime in 2020. Speaking at Georgetown University in a fireside chat during the first day of DC Fintech Week, Tarbert told moderator Chris Brummer that he “absolutely” believes ether futures could trade in the next six to 12 months. Tarbert first declared ether a commodity earlier this month, announcing that his agency would be willing to approve futures contracts on ETH.
Web browser Opera now allows making payments with Bitcoin directly inside the browser. The company announced that Opera’s 350 million users can now send and receive BTC directly from the browser, as well as use the cryptocurrency for purchasing goods and services on e-commerce websites. Additionally, the browser now enables adding a Bitcoin and TRON (TRX) card into the built-in Crypto Wallet to keep track of the cryptocurrency owned.
P2P trading platform Paxful has seen a surge in its trading volume for Bitcoin (BTC) against the Chinese yuan to a new all-time high. The trading volume on BTC/CNY has been rising steadily all year and, in fact, recently even hit a new all-time high of ¥10M ($1412390 USD) for this past week. The increase is staggering. The last major spike of this kind was in late 2017 — but the current spike is more sustained and far larger.
Binance.US announced on Tuesday that it had added support for two more cryptoassets: BUSD and IOTA. The new trading pairs—BUSD/USD, BTC/BUSD, and IOTA/USD—are set to go live at 21:00 EST on 22 October 2019 (or 01:00 UTC on 23 October 2019). Only once trading in these pairs has gone live will withdrawals be possible. Other cryptoassets listed this month include: Algorand (ALGO), Zcash (ZEC), Dash (DASH), Chainlink (LINK) and Ravencoin (RVN).
