Since I started buying some cryptos like Bitcoin, Ethereum and other altcoins I started asking myself how the holidays would affect their price.
The more I started thinking about it the more I was affraid : if people want to buy gifts and they don't have to money to do so, they could potentially start to sell their position to be able to buy gifts for their family.
I started looking at the charts. Since Bitcoin is the oldest currency I decided to analyse it.
2013
2015
2016
In the first graph we can see that the price is really volatile. This is because Bitcoin was unstable back in 2013. The price went from $ 300 to $ 1 000 in less than 3 months and stabilized at $ 750. This year does not represent our current market.
More recently (2015 and 2016) the price was very stable during these periods. In 2015, the price was arround $ 360 and did not move during the holidays. Same thing during 2016, the price was going from $ 900 and $ 1 200 in this period of the year.
In conclusion, the holidays don't seem to affect the price at all. This conclusion is kind of boring BUT at least we know people don't sell off their coins during this period of the year, which is something good in my books.
