Interesting write up. I haven't had a chance to explore bitshares yet, but from what I've seen it does look promising.
I gave EtherDelta a try the other day (another decentralised exchange, but Ethereum based of course) and that was pretty simple to use.
Not as easy as the steem internal market, but not much different either, if you know what I mean?
The other option might be Bittrex, from what I've read; they're going to be getting their customers BCC when it comes out. There might be some other exchanges doing the same thing too.
Two that aren't are CoinBase and BitStamp. If you want BCC? You're not going to be getting it from them unfortunately.
