Status is an open source messaging platform and mobile interface to interact with dApps that run on Ethereum.
It’s like a WeChat for Ethereum. It’ll have a wallet, messaging, and access to dApps on Ethereum.
The problem today is that social media is centralized and the dirty secret is that its run by bots and advertisers.
The Status Network is a platform for the new decentralized internet, Web 3.0.
It will be fueled by the Status Network Token (SNT). Users will become stakeholders, enabling the interests of the network to align with those of its users.
The SNT token is a utility token that fuels the Status network. It’s used to power the push notification market, for governance of the Status client, for community curation of content, in conjunction with social communication tools, and for other services provided by the network, like the Status Teller Network and dApp Directory.
There’s a total of roughly 6.8 billion SNT tokens with 3.4 billion in circulation right now.
If you have an Android phone you can download the Status app right now. Keep in mind it’s still in the early development phase.
I like this one just because it’s such a big idea. WeChat has something like 1 billion users. And the decentralized web is the future.
Check out the picture below. It was tweeted by Brian Armstrong of Coinbase. They have a competitor to Status called Toshi, and the picture below shows the dApp landscape. It'll only get bigger!

I had a look at these when researching some high grossing ICOs. Very promising idea with a pretty good beta, but fighting current global messaging giants will be tough. If status gets enough traction, the giants may just do something similar for their already massive user base. I do hope that they do well though!

Thanks @g-dubs. I like that you are a fan of Ethereum, and I shared recently with you that I am also a huge fan. I will check it out, and be ready for when it becomes available for the iPhone too. I am actually starting to feel like I need both for different functions with the way it is going. lol
ETH is the most prolific ecosystem to date. I like NEO too.
Maybe soon we'll have blockchain phones and can leave Android and iOS behind... lol I doubt it but one can hope.
I like Neo too and have some. I have put more of an investment in Ethereum and Ethos. Haha! Yes when we get to blockchain phones, I guess we will be one step closer to getting back to telepathy. 🌠🌠😜🌠🌠😜
