RE: Bitcoin is leaving the station

in #bitcoin7 years ago

I really hope you are right and there are no issues and bitcoin goes straight to the moon as this means I can retire shortly afterwards! However, I feel we still have some serious ground to cover between now and the end of the year. There are several possible isdues which could cause a fork and regardless of personal feelings over which solution is better, a fork is seriously bad news for main stream adoption. No one who is not into crypto wants to worry about which coin they own or what will happen after a fork!! I really hope you are right but unfortunately I can't share your optimism just yet!!

The reality, is that there will always be debates about how to scale bitcoin and it will never end. Just like the internet went through the same issue with how to scale, bitcoin will continue to get upgraded, faster and more secure. TX/per second will continue to increase and I have faith that we have some over the brightest minds working on making bitcoin better.

Not everyone agrees it needs to be upgraded, especially at the expense of security. And if there is a fork, then all bets are off. Imagine an outsider looking in, wanting to invest or use bitcoin!! What do you do, which chain do you choose!! It's a sign of immaturity. If a business accepts bitcoin today but tomorrow there are two incompatible versions, what do they do? It would kill off mass adoption over night!!

I don't believe a hardfork will ever happen. Its highly unlikely that miners will signal for 2x in November. We need to stop believing the fud of forking and chain splitting. It's not going to happen.

I really hope you are right but until we are past it, there are going to be issues.

They have been very successful in brainwashing everyone in to believe that bitcoin will fork and split.

I don't believe it will, I believe its a possibility that cant be discounted, especially at present.
