The late Mt. Gox issued a claim form for victims of the February 2014 hack to redistribute more than 1 billion euros in Bitcoin.
As reported by TheNextWeb, the former Mt. Gox cryptocurrency trading platform is calling victims of theft to file a return for a refund. Nearly 180,000 bitcoins (more than 1 billion euros at current Bitcoin prices) will be redistributed. Those concerned have until October 22, 2018 to make their request.
Victims can submit a claim online or by mail to recover their previously stolen cryptocurrency or currency. The process is only for individuals.
The company wrote:
"As in the bankruptcy proceedings, the Rehabilitation Trustee has developed a system that allows MTGOX users to file proof of pardon claims regarding requests for the return of cryptocurrency and money against MTGOX. By using this online system, users around the world can easily participate in civil rehabilitation proceedings by filing proof of claim. "
From 2010 to 2014, the Japanese Mt. Gox platform was responsible for over 70% of BTC operations worldwide. However, in February 2014, the service abruptly closed and announced that more than 850,000 BTCs had been stolen. Repayment procedures have been running for almost 5 years now.
