BTC-E is under maintenance since Alexander Vinnik was arrested for alleged engagement in money laundering and involvement in MtGox hack. It's alright for the authorities to suspend any platform because of its involvement in money laundering but Every one is asking the one question again and again when is BTC-E going to come online and open its doors for customers to withdraw their funds.
Nowadays if you visit BTC-E website you will see under maintenance message or you will get error 525 ( SSl handshake failed). I hope that BTC-E will come back online to return money to traders because it started as a legitimate site. Many traders have thousands of dollars stuck because it was oldest in operation and gained trust from the community.
They have recently tweeted about when they are coming back online. Language of tweet is Russian so I am going to translate it in English.

"Exchanges like this are not only illegal but they are a breeding ground for a stolen identity refund fraud schemes and other types of tax fraud"
Some people who had idea about what is going on in BTC-E were expecting it to shut down sooner or later.
Do you think BTC-E will come back online after 5-10 days? Do you think authorities will allow BTC-E to turn on services and return money to their users?
"Update2 : At the moment we are working to restoring the services. Approximate time to resolve the issue is 5 to 10 days. Thanks for understanding #btce"
If not only the owner but also the exchange itself was involved in criminal things happening, I cannot imagine authorities would allow BTC-E resuming operations just as if nothing happened.
Unless authorities have no grip on BTC-E...
