Have You Ever Wanted to Sell or Buy a Crypto Currency When the Wallet was in Maintenance Mode on Bittrex?
One of the most frustrating things for me as an early crypto currency trader was the inability for me to sell when a token was crashing while the wallet for that token was under maintenance. Yet, I could see that people were still buying and selling because of the price movement. I used to think there was a scam going on at Bittrex.
Then a friend enlightened me on how trades are still accomplished while a wallet is in maintenance mode.
What Maintenance Mode Looks Like on Bittrex.
How To Trade When the Wallet is in Maintenance Mode. Click on Bitcoin Markets at the Top. Search for the Token You Wish to Trade and Click Search.
Now You Can Trade Normally Even Though the Wallet is Under Maintenance.

Good info. I was able to trade on Bittrex when coin wallets were under maintenance both buy and sell...you just can't send them off the exchange and on to your personal wallet.

These days I found myself getting more involved in bittrex trading rather than poloniex since there are so many issues with the latter and also due to bittrex stable platform so far.

Pretty sure all exchanges let you trade when wallet is under maintenance, you just can't withdraw/deposit.
Thanks for the tip. I used to be a poloniex only guy, but I live in WA state and they recently banned Poloniex for WA users.. so I had to move to Bittrex. I like it, just wish the volume was higher, but I bet in time it'll get there!!

Good share! No idea why I didn't think to share this. I ran into the wallet maintenance issue couple weeks back and stumbled into what you did above, which at the time felt like a huge sigh of relief.
When it's time for me to sell something, I want to be able to sell!
A few weeks ago this happened to me with ZenCash. I wanted out desperately and a buddy showed it to me. Boom, stress level normalized.
For real - from frustration to relief in no time flat!
You shoulda stayed in ZenCash. Good news is that it's even cheaper to get in now!
I have been in and out of Zen about 10 times. It sure is fun to trade.
Keep some on the side, it's going to go up. :)
Ironically it is happening with ETH right at this moment!

I havent tried Bittrex yet. I do most of my trades via poloniex. Is one better than the other?
I hear Poloniex horror stories constantly. Bittrex is pretty stable, no issues in 4 years.
Good tip. Ill consider moving my portfolio. What's happening with Poloniex are mostly performanc issues. Unfulfilled orders, closure of the chatbox etc
hm, that is interesting, but I imagine that the volume will be quite low when that happens.

Always be buying that way you don't care about the price entry.
For what is my experience, all the main exchanges, let you trade, also if the wallets are in maintenance, obvious in the period of maintenance you can't deposit or withdraw, but all the trading functions remains active... and this is valid for poloniex, cryptopia, yobit, bitstamp, etc. etc.
It's funny how the "wallet is under maintenance" shows up when the market spikes or drops.

Love it! Conversely, you can also go to any market screen for any coin and change the end of the string to the ticker symbol for the coin in maintenance...

and just remove XRP and insert ETH right on the address bar and you can fly right into the market view!
