It is glad to see those safety wallet. However, I think there are lots of types of cryptocurrency on the market, it will be very expensive if you keep several kinds of altcoin safely. So I hope that maybe next few years, all the altcoin can have a protocol about the storage of altcoin, standardising the strobe method and make the wallet can be used cheaply and also widel:)
I know your concern about the hacking issue. And actually there are lots of hacking occurring in altcoin market. Like gatecoin was stolen a few million... Maybe smart tokens is a better solution to solve the efficiency of exchange. So I think the smart token maybe a new way to scale up the altcoin market.
Excellent point. Much like centralized data centers, decentralizing assets is a major win for cryptosecuriy. Just learning about the crypto world. Your page has been very helpful!
I have used the ledger nano s, for the price it is good, but I don't like how you have to enter and exit each wallet.
I use the keepkey which is great because you can view all the accounts at once and even make multiple accounts in any of the supported currencies. One for personal or one for work for example.
I have really been wanting to try the ledger blue, looks very nice!
How do you actually put coins on the ledgers and how you get them off?
Do you install a program on you PC to transfer the coin on to it, can you give me a little info on this :)
I'm thinking about buying one now for a few weeks.
Click on the Ledger videos I embedded and watch all of their videos. They take you through the whole process with each device. You download wallets to the devices to hold your favorite cryptos.
You use a Google Chrome app to connect to your device. Note on Linux you need to run a command on the command line first time, otherwise it doesn't work.
I've been using the nano s for a while and I really like the way it works; easy to use, intuitive and compact. I wanted to get a keepkey to use in parallel, just to compare the two (and I like the fact that ShapeShift is integrated and that conversions can be made on the device), but they have been out of stock for some time now. I needed another device anyway because the nano s has limited space, so there isn't enough room for all of the wallets that are available. I'm quite keen to get my hands on the ledger blue for many reasons, one being that I use an iPhone and, on the move, the nano s can connect to android but not to iOS thanks to apple's restrictions on lightening port access. The ledger blue gets around that problem with Bluetooth; but does Bluetooth connectivity jeopardise security? I'd love to hear your views on that.
I would think it would jeopardize security only if you are in a public place. This also goes for public wifi. If you have hot wallets on your computer you should never use it in public.
I really need to buy myself a hardware wallet. In the past, I considered buying a trezor, but I couldn't justify the cost when bitcoins price was low. However, now I've seen the ledger blue, I want one of those instead. Shame it is so expensive. :(
That is a very nice storage device for cryptos, I have quite a bit on poloniex and Ive been meaning to get them out of there. Thanks for the info and Im following you :)
I bought the ledger nano S a few weeks ago, Should get here July 12th :)
Very excited, I think the Tablet one (Blue) is a bit too much. At least for me, might be used in more professional areas such as higher CEOs
Thanks for sharing this information. This might seem a strange question - although I am planning to buy a hardware wallet. Would a flash drive suffice or are there special features/added securities on these special hardware wallets?
Just bought a Nano S myself a month ago. Finally about to get it in the mail this week, since it was a bit back-ordered. Good recommendation, after doing my research I came to the same conclusion.
I actually own one of each, the Nano S being a backup for the Blue. The Blue is a very cool piece of tech. I am using the default wallets currently but I think I need to shop around for a different one.
Is anyone who is using a Ledger now using a 3rd party wallet successfully? If so, what is your choice and why do you like it?
Yes and its kismet that you posted this because someone else I know also ordered today, and was asking me about it. I was like "It's awesome holding all my crypto loot". I think they are jealous. :)
If I ever can get far enough into crypto to need a wallet like this that badly, I think I'll take my pass phrases and weave them into Dreamtime stories like this Aboriginal Australians. So then if I explode or I'm eaten by a puma my son can find the treasure.
I've looked at it myself but decided to go with the trezor for now. Once Ledge blue is available I will buy it. With recent incident with Jaxx doesn't seem wise to wait another day. U can buy trezor from amazon. See their website below for more information.
I really need to get me one of these! Last thing i knew though was that the nano S was sold out, with delivery time lasting until september/october because of recent high demands.
Thanks so much for the advice @hilarski. Security is one of my biggest concern when it comes to moving money into crypto. Lots of horror stories. Ledger is one of the best solutions that I have seen.
Looks much more enjoyable to use for daily tasks - sort of large and conspicuous if you were to travel internationally - won't be long b4 that device is profiled and scanned for upon entering immigration/customs of 'certain' countries. (best to leave it at home I'd say)
good produce by why bother when mining is so profitability
I mine it because its now the most profitable way. You do not need work just invest and live off the daily income simple. Here is a discount to get you started 3% 5ZEQWb you check it out here genesis mining http://bit.ly/2sY44Vg
It's cool to have a hardware wallet. But, I am scared to see this tiny USB connector break; when trying connect it the computer. Have anyone thought of a good solution to this problem? - In my mind; not being able to access the hardware wallet, would be catastrophic.
Awesome i saw they ledger got pushed back i cant wait to get mine!

I actually prefer the opposite. Having a standardized system makes them all vulnerable to attack.
I know your concern about the hacking issue. And actually there are lots of hacking occurring in altcoin market. Like gatecoin was stolen a few million... I have never seen a Keepkey in Action. Sounds very cool.
It is a very nice product. I will be doing a review at some point. I will try to remember to send you the link.

nice post though :) keep that good stuff coming

Another great post, thanks!

I should probably pre-order soon otherwise I'm sure they'll sell out quickly like all the others.
Take care!
Very interesting, I think buy a very soon (as soon as I have enough money to store ^^)
just got my Trezors! :)
I really need to buy myself a hardware wallet. In the past, I considered buying a trezor, but I couldn't justify the cost when bitcoins price was low. However, now I've seen the ledger blue, I want one of those instead. Shame it is so expensive. :(
A Nano S will suffice for just Bitcoin and a few other Crypto Wallets.
Honestly it makes you feel like a part of you died when you get hacked
So better you stay safe
Thats a cool wallet, just ordered one.
Congratulations!
Nice one. Got one too.
That is a very nice storage device for cryptos, I have quite a bit on poloniex and Ive been meaning to get them out of there. Thanks for the info and Im following you :)
Please get your Crypto off that exchange.
I bought the ledger nano S a few weeks ago, Should get here July 12th :)
Very excited, I think the Tablet one (Blue) is a bit too much. At least for me, might be used in more professional areas such as higher CEOs
I got the Blue because it has much more space in order to have more different wallets.
Ah, makes sense.
I would of bought but I only need it to hold Stratis and ETH. I think the Ledger Nano S should be just fine for that
Yup, it will be fine.
Hope you keep making post like that. Its helping a lot of people :))
You are welcome.
Thanks for sharing this information. This might seem a strange question - although I am planning to buy a hardware wallet. Would a flash drive suffice or are there special features/added securities on these special hardware wallets?
There is a secure element in these wallets that increases the security. They also have methods to restore the wallet if it dies.
Thanks a lot for your response. Very helpful
Glad to help! I definitely recommend the Ledger devices.
A flash drive works but these have an extra layer of security built in.
Just bought a Nano S myself a month ago. Finally about to get it in the mail this week, since it was a bit back-ordered. Good recommendation, after doing my research I came to the same conclusion.
love it Amazing product
but have no money to buy this product
may be in future or with yours help
thanks

I can't wait to get it. Back-ordered until August.
Yes and its kismet that you posted this because someone else I know also ordered today, and was asking me about it. I was like "It's awesome holding all my crypto loot". I think they are jealous. :)
Great information. When I do finally start buying cryptocurrency I will have to invest in one.
Its crazy how hard is to get one
I should have bought 10 just to sell to friends.
You soon will be able to,with your steem rewards👍
If I ever can get far enough into crypto to need a wallet like this that badly, I think I'll take my pass phrases and weave them into Dreamtime stories like this Aboriginal Australians. So then if I explode or I'm eaten by a puma my son can find the treasure.
That works as well, paper wallets will always be in fashion to.
The ledge blue seems scary since its still a digital device.
What are your thoughts on a much more analog storage device akin to the Cryptosteel?
I have never looked at that. Paper wallets on the other hand work great.
Good advice. You are an interesting guy, living an interesting life. Stay gold.
I've looked at it myself but decided to go with the trezor for now. Once Ledge blue is available I will buy it. With recent incident with Jaxx doesn't seem wise to wait another day. U can buy trezor from amazon. See their website below for more information.

never even knew these things existed
La seguridad de la billetera te resguardara, lo sucedido
I really need to get me one of these! Last thing i knew though was that the nano S was sold out, with delivery time lasting until september/october because of recent high demands.
what happens when the device malfunctions?
That is why they give you a backup pass phrase.
very cool
Yes Hard Wallets like this are very important, if anything happens for any reason you would be more likey to be okay with a hard wallet.
Das Amazin wallet.
Great! I hope to buy a ledger nano.
Thanks so much for the advice @hilarski. Security is one of my biggest concern when it comes to moving money into crypto. Lots of horror stories. Ledger is one of the best solutions that I have seen.
Yes, that is why I went with them. They have the best reviews.
You recommended a Trezor to me a handful of months back. Any particular reason you are higher on the Ledger devices now?
Ledger Blue is really great device... Nice post
seems really cool.. @hilarski
Looks much more enjoyable to use for daily tasks - sort of large and conspicuous if you were to travel internationally - won't be long b4 that device is profiled and scanned for upon entering immigration/customs of 'certain' countries. (best to leave it at home I'd say)
Dam Straight, it won't be going on any trips.
nice post
Thank you for advice! Pre-Order!
Is this the only brand available on the market?

I have a ledger nano 1st gen (btc only) and i'm really happy with it. It's sad that it will never be multi-currencies :/
But, still solid & secure so, totally worth it.
(I even wrote a blog post in french about it : https://magnier.io/bitcoin/review-ledger-nano )
Ledger Nano S is hands down the best investment I’ve ever made - after bitcoin. ;)
