Bitcoin: Could it reach $1m by 2020? (Prediction 2019)
The popular cryptocurrency enthusiast and founder of the anti-virus software McAfee Associates, John McAfee has always been quite out there when it comes to the price of Bitcoin. Recently, he has even predicted the BTC price to reach $1 million by 2020 which is a brave estimate, to say the least.
In mid-2017, the entrepreneur first spoke on Bitcoin saying that one BTC would be worth half a million by the end of 2020.

I grew up in McAfee, New Jersey. Pronounced MAK-a-fee.
I think this may be his way of trying to manipulate the market for his own gain (or get publicity). I think it will reach a million eventually but, IMO, I think 2020 is too soon. Someone who is very well known in the Bitcoin community told me years ago to hold 10 BTC, forget about them, and once day it would be more than enough to retire.
I agree, the timeframe seems too short. I like the predictions of $220,000 in 2021. It seems much more likely. 10 Bitcoin should e every early adopters goal.
That's closer to how I feel about the growth potential. It's pretty clear that BTC will eventually be used as the primary storehouse of wealth worldwide. I see Nano and some other fee-less coins overtaking VISA in the payments niche. These next two years will be so exciting.

I totally agree with this estimation. Although some eastern countries have already developed their adoption to blockchain other countries started to talk these adoption especially europe and Turkey. Thank you for this valuable post

John McAfee is a professional computer security expert. What are his credentials on Bitcoin? Does he have a proven track record of correctly predicting prices of investments? Is he a qualified Financial Advisor? Why are his predictions important?

I believe that prediction can be possible. Just that my faith in my believe on that prediction is 10%
My guess on John McAfee's prediction on Bitcoin going to $1,000,000 by 2020 will not come true. I will also guess that people will still care what he thinks about Bitcoin in 2021.
In my opinion, the only way for Bitcoin to hit 1 million by 2020, is massive devaluation by the U.S. dollar. As of right now, the U.S. dollar is the gold standard so to speak. U.S. Dollar Index has historically risen over the last ten years. Most things are possible, but 1 million dollar bitcoin by 2020 is highly unlikely, if not impossible.
Even the famous bitcoin projection chart points to 100k by 2020-2021. I'm not endorsing or saying this chart to be true, but it does give a bench mark that seems more sound, than what McAfeeissmokingcoughcoughcough....I mean what McAfee is predicting.
