Searches for 'buy Bitcoin' are more frequent than searches for 'buy gold' on the popular search engine. Recently, Bitcoin surpassed the value of gold, so that one ounce of gold cost less than one Bitcoin.

I remember when gold and BTC were the same price. Now BTC blew way past the price of gold. I feel bad for the precious metal holders out there. They have been getting screwed for years.

does this take into account that people who know where to buy gold might not be able to find a place to buy bitcoin, as if you know where to buy bitcoin, and dont know where to buy gold, you might have to have a history of being dropped on your head?
of course the search for "where to buy bitcoin" will be more popular. people already know where to buy gold.
Why is that???
because gold has been the main form of currency before paper or coins were used. it was the biggest search over "where to buy bitcoin" between the existence of google and bitcoin itself up until just recently when bitcoin became an exponentially better return for investors, both in gold (who have experience in numbers but not computers, therefore needing to search) and the average person who didnt even care about investing until the exponential return rate of bitcoin had already become publicly known, like a modern gold rush. Anyone looking to invest in gold at todays prices would have to wait years just to double their money, but even with a bad altcoin you can make 10 times your investment in a few months. and alt-coins can only be traded with bitcoin, so that should also be accounted for. bitcoin just sets the bar for usd/alt-coin
