South Korean crypto-exchange by mistake sent over $ 5 million to clients

in #bitcoin6 years ago

Coinnest, the South Korean cryptocurrency exchange, transferred over 6 billion won (about $ 5.5 million) in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency to its users because of a bug in the system, some traders also received "rewards" in fiat currency. It is reported by CoinDesk.

Funds were mistakenly sent to hundreds of clients when the We Game Token (WGT) eirdrope platform was used.

Now representatives of Coinnest ask their users to return the funds received, hoping for the integrity of customers. According to the latest data, about half of the lost coins returned to the accounts of the exchange - mainly in the WGT cryptocurrency.

However, users who received Bitcoins were not in a hurry to return them - a massive sale of BTC was recorded on the platform, which led to the collapse of the rate of the main world cryptocurrency to $ 50 at a certain point at Coinnest.

Recall that last year Coinnest was convicted of placing tokens on its platform for “remuneration” from issuers, after which the South Korean law enforcement agencies conducted repeated checks at the exchange office for the assignment of customer funds to the management of the site - no information appeared on the results.
