That's a really good question!
Fees are always a percentage of coins value so they increase with its value...
I think that the first coin with low fix fees, a very small minimum and correctly fast ( few seconds would look correct ) will stand out!!

That is what I am thinking would be the basics of the first coin to truly go mainstream. Bitcoin miner fees have destroyed its use as a currency. I have about $175 in BitPay that I cannot get out due to fees being more than what I hold. That is ridiculous.
