I'm fairly new to crypto's and haven't set up a wallet outside of an exchange yet, I know it's a must because you can literally lose everyting on these but I'm not sure what is the best wallet to use as I'm paranoid I'm going to lose them somehow. Can an expert point me in the right direction? I've heard offline wallets are best but I can't find one to store multiple cryptos... I'm in Canada if it matters. Thanks!
Cheers from Canada!
Look up mycelium, jaxx, or coinomi. Good hot wallets. Otherwise buy a hardware wallet such as ledher nano or trezor. They are the safest options for cold storage. You can also use a paper wallet if you want safe cold storage on the cheap.
Jaxx and coinomi hold multiple coins. The hardware wallets mentioned do so as well. Of course I don't know what you have so do a bit of research and see what you like.
Ok I think I'm gonna order a hardware wallet, I'll have to check prices out though. Thanks for your help!
Hardware is the way to go. Keep your stash off of the internet so it can't be hacked just to be on the safe side.
Is there anyway it could be hacked through my computer? Like say if your computer was hacked could it affect the hardware wallet? Thinking about a ledger wallet. Thanks for the help!
I haven't bought one yet, I'm new at this too, I've just read a little about it. A hard wallet plugs into your USB port, so it is not stored on your computer. I'm guessing it comes with some encryption software. Just do a search on Startpage (not Google) and research it.
Ok thanks!
I bought a Ledger Nano recently and I love it. Its fairly easy to set it up and now I know my cryptos are safe.
