As we all know, if you lose your Private Key, your funds are lost forever no one can use them. So was just wondering, assuming there is a legitimate source that tells us x% of the total 21 million supply of bitcoins has been lost forever, will the Price skyrocket or drop drastically ?
In theory no funds are "lost forever" because, with enough computational time, a correct "guess" could be made to access any private key.
The amount of computations may seem unreachable given current technology, but remember in 1980, less than 40 years ago, "256 k [was] as much memory as anyone will ever need" (Bill Gates) and today's smartphones use more than 250,000 times that number.
