RE: Cryptocurrency Discussion: Can bitcoin still thrive if governments introduce their own digital coins?

in #bitcoin7 years ago

In all fairness, the crypto-world is strong enough to withstand digital fiat currencies. Any serious government would be stupid to not go digital in the near future, so why begrudge them for trying.
My 2 cents.

Oh by the way, forget the term gov-coin. There won't be any such thing. It'll be the dollar, or the Euro, or Rubel,. But they'll be available in two formats, as a digital currency and as a paper money. The paper only for some transitional time, any way. Same monetary policy, same everything else. Only difference is you can move them around at the speed of light.
