For two days, online shoppers from Canada have been able to pay almost everything with Bitcoin and Litecoin at very low fees and high speed. The Exchange Service Coincards has implemented the Lightning Network as a payment method.

The Canadian service Coincards, which calls itself a "Bitcoin to Gift Card Exchange Service," has implemented the use of the Lightning network as a payment method for all its merchants.

This has officially confirmed the company in a message on the company blog. The only condition for the use is a minimum purchase value of $ 25.

Coincards is a middleman committed to driving the adoption of Bitcoin as a legal tender. Since so far only a small number of online shops accept Bitcoin (globally speaking), Coincards goes a little detour in which it offers the purchase of gift cards using Bitcoin.

The gift cards can then be redeemed at Amazon, Newegg, Walmart, Esso, Shell, Apple and several other partners.

Coincards is one of the first websites to accept and implement Lightning as a possible payment.

To implement the project, they worked with developers from BTCPay to install the Lightning Network Client.

When ordering on Coincard.ca, after the step "Checkout", there is a payment screen where you can select the Lightning Network. If the order continues at this point, a QR code will appear that needs to be scanned to complete the order.

The rapid spread of the Lightning network this year leads to an ever-advancing technical adaptation of the industry. Although Lightning is still in beta, some apps and services have begun to use it. We find this development praiseworthy and are curious when the wave spills over to Germany.
