According to experts from Positive Technologies, the interest of hackers to crypto-currency wallets and ICO is growing. Because of this, both ordinary users and large corporations suffer equally, which can lose millions of dollars in a matter of minutes.
The report says that the number of attacks on ICO projects is increasing, during which hackers change purse addresses to their own and thus users transfer their money to scammers' accounts. From such attacks suffered ICO, conducted by startups Enigma Catalyst and CoinDash. In the first case, the damage amounted to $ 500,000, while in the second case it was $ 9 million.
Specialists, among other things, drew attention to another growing threat posed by the ICO:
'We can not exclude the activation of a new kind of cybercrime - the creation of knowingly unscrupulous block-start-ups that will justify the loss of funds by hackers.'
Another problem that hackers create is hidden mining. Attackers distribute malicious programs that extract crypto currency on the computer or device of an unsuspecting victim. 'The question of the security of Web resources has never been so acute as in the situation with the blocking projects and ICO, when unauthorized access to the management of the site and content means the loss of millions of dollars in a few minutes. Along with the growth in the number of new ICOs by the end of the year, there is expected to be an increase in attacks on the block-platform, 'noted Positive Technologies analyst Olga Zinenko.
The number of cyberncidents in the public sector is growing: the share of attacks directed at state organizations in the third quarter of 2017 was 13% and for the first time in two years exceeded the share of attacks on financial companies (7%).
