Bitcoin vs. Bitcoin Cash - is it going to court now?

Since the Bitcoin Cash Hard Fork on August 1, 2017, the dispute in the Bitcoin community has reached a new level. Before the Hard Fork, which shared the network and allowed both camps to realize their vision, the fronts were already hardened. But the Zank does not stop and seems to escalate even further.

On one side is prominently Roger Ver, the representative of the large blocks and the on-chain scaling. Behind him is Jihan Wu , co-founder of Bitmain . Ver represents the (unpopular) view that Bitcoin Cash is the true vision of Satoshi Nakamoto and thus the true Bitcoin . On the other side, apparently all the other personalities of the Bitcoin sphere.

A social attack on Bitcoin
The hard fork of Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is far behind. The dream of bigger blocks has come true. One would think that the Zoff had settled and both parties are now peacefully working on their version of the protocol. But Roger Ver does not rest - for him it's just getting started: The name "Bitcoin" must be conquered.

Ver refers to Bitcoin (BTC) as the "Bitcoin Core". Thus, the two versions in the name differ only by three letters. On his Twitter channel, Ver repeatedly prophesies that BCH would be better than BTC - the "true Bitcoin". As such, it is natural to call Bitcoin Cash (BCH) simply bitcoin .

Bitcoin can be attacked with many methods. The famous 51 percent attack is a technical attack vector. Confusion to give the name is a social one .

Quarrels on Twitter
Well-known personalities have meanwhile also spoken up. The founder of Shapeshift.io Erik Voorhees corrected one of verse tweets. His statement was taken out of context and the chain with more hashing power was the true Bitcoin.

Also Cypherpunk trailer Jameson Loop commented on the problem. Everyone can define Bitcoin for themselves - but not for others; that depends on the computer code.

Bitcoin.com soon in court?
For some, the Zoff may be amusing. Others cost the fun real money. Especially for newcomers who want to learn about the first of all crypto currencies, this is confusing. After all, Ver owns the domain "Bitcoin.com" - and there's always talk of Bitcoin Core . It may happen that a beginner sends BCH to a BTC address . The result: no valid transaction takes place. Recently, this also happened in the first Bitcoin bar worldwide, Room 77 in Berlin.

Many have lost money through donated disorientation. That's why a Grass Roots movement wants to put an end to the machinations of Bitcoin.com. Over 600 people have already gathered and are planning legal action for fraud. This puts Ver under pressure.
