It seems like the crypto-space is moving so fast, that it's merely impossible to keep up. New innovations pop up from every corner and new ideas flourish...
But there is one big problem right now...
It is still really hard for any "uneducated" user to participate in this great technology or even make use of it. Though this does make sense, in a way: Since we are talking about value and "hard earned money" that has to be committed in order to participate (not in steemit, of course) users often shy away. For good reason! It is still very easy to get scammed or to loose keys or what ever it may be.
I would even argue, that in order to participate in the current state, you have to have a reasonably good understanding of the technology if you want to operate safely.
This does make me wonder if there are any Companies or even communities that are working on Making Crypto Accessible?
ABRA - https://www.abra.com/bitcoin/
Abra is working not only on a mobile app, but also creates a network of tellers, to simplify to buy in and cash out of crypto. They already have established over 1500 tellers worldwide.
Airbitz - https://airbitz.co/
Airbitz is a bitcoin wallet that uses username and password to encrypt the private key on the phone, before sending a copy to their servers. Username and Password never leave the phone, and are only used locally to encrypt and decrypt the private keys. This can be combined with a 2FA for an extra security boost. Since this process resembles the usual web logins, this should be a good way to ease in new users.
Steemit - https://steemit.com/
We all know it, and we all love it. It is right now arguably the most accessible way to get into crypto without any knowledge about the space and even better: there is no risk of loosing funds, since you don't have to invest to participate! I see steemit as the only major alternative gateway into the crypto world besides bitcoin. You either buy into bitcoin or earn steem.
Are you aware of any other beginner friendly platforms out there, that encourage newcomers to interact with the blockchain?
If so, please share :)
