WeMakePrice, better known as Wemepu, one of Korea's largest e-commerce platforms, is integrating 12 crypto-coins, including Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin, in collaboration with Bithumb, the country's largest crypto-currency exchange.
First major retailer and e-commerce platform in South Korea to accept crypto-coins
According to major local media, WeMakePrice is cooperating with Bithumb in adding crypto coins to the existing OneThePay payment platform. Once the integration is complete, existing WeMakePrice users will be able to purchase items and services using crypto-coins.
While Bithumb is leading the process of integrating multiple crypto-coins into the WeMakePrice system, users do not need to be registered with Bithumb to use crypto-coins on the WeMakePrice platform. Since crypto-coins will be integrated into your existing infrastructure, users can pay for products using the same application.
In an interview with mainstream South Korean media HanKyoReh, a WeMakePrice spokesman said the company came to the decision to integrate crypto-coins as part of a larger initiative to ease the payment process for consumers in general.
"Integrating crypto coins is part of our initiative to make payments more convenient for our consumers and customers. We consider mobile applications and crypto-coins as efficient payment methods, "the spokesman said.
The integration of crypto-coins by WeMakePrice shows enthusiasm for the local crypto-coins sector by many of the country's largest conglomerates across multiple industries.
Growing adoption of Bitcoin and crypto-coins in Japan
Yesterday, January 28, it was reported that Japan's largest consumer electronics retailer began to make test bitcoin payments. Yamada, which became one of the two leading resellers in Japan, in addition to the Bic Camera in integrating crypto-coins, partnered with the Japanese crypto-currency exchange BitFlyer.
The company's official statement, translated, said:
"We will implement initiatives to improve the recognition of Bitcoin and promote its use. With the introduction of bitcoin payment service, we respond to the diverse needs of our customers in Japan and abroad. We believe we can offer better service and convenience".
In South Korea, almost all major conglomerates, such as the $ 10 billion NXC, and the leading Telecom SKT, have a significant stake in the crypto-coins business and retailers have begun to analyze the integration of crypto-coins.
As the adoption of large crypto-coins such as Bitcoin and Ethereum grows, the entire crypto-coin market will attract consumers in the coming months.

Cryptocurrencies will become more and more commonly adopted in the future. We’ve seen this recently with Coinbase briefly becoming the app with the most downloads on the app store, and now with this.
Nice article! Keep up the good work. :D Definitely upvoting and following!
@shredz7
@shredz7 thanks! I'm following you too. I think not just Bitcoin, but a lot of altcoins will be accepted as currency for buy products and services. Cryptos are the new money.
Yes, they are, but also I like to think about their other applications that are more complex than just being a cryptocurrency. While I don’t think Bitcoin is a good currency, there are many altcoins (IOTA and RaiBlocks especially) that are amazing currencies. :D
Thanks for replying, @marcosoliveira
