I think everyone can agree that 2017 has been the year of the cryptocurrency market and the blockchain technology. Bitcoin has skyrocketed right through the roof and other currencies like Ethereum and Ripple has taken its place as main coins beside Bitcoin. We have also seen an explosion in Initial Coin Offerings or ICOs. Many of these ICOs has been built upon the Ethereum platform which has been a major factor in Ethereum's huge growth this year. All these ICOs and hence new projects with new coins can give an interesting scenario for the development of the crypto market in 2018.
Although I think it's fair to say that some of these new coins and projects won't survive for too long and maybe not even through 2018, the majority of them will thrive and grow in the coming year. One reason behind this is beacuse almost every coin has a roadmap for 2018 and will begin for real in 2018 . When the projects then deliver on that roadmap their coins will rise in value which will ultimately lead to that the whole cryptomarket will rise in value. Of course not every project will succeed, some will fail to deliver and therefore succumb. But my take on this is that the majority of the new ICOs which we've seen start in 2017 will deliver what they have promised in the upcoming year. Therefore I'm very positive for the cryptomarket in 2018 because of the many exciting and fascinating projects that are out there that will begin to evolve and develop for real.
Another thing this could lead to if many so called altcoins deliver in 2018, is that the dominance of Bitcoin can be reduced. However this may not happen despite a rise in many altcoins, if Bitcoin continues to rise as more and more institutional money gets into the market and into Bitcoin. My hopes is on the first because I think it would be healthier for the market as a whole to not have one coin with so much dominance.
What are your thoughts on this? Will 2018 be the year of the altcoins and help the market grow even further?
Or do you disagree?
