My appetite for investing in crypto currencies increased as I entered the crypto world on the occasion of Steemit. The fact that prices have declined considerably compared to the summit in January increases my motivation on this issue.
However, I have a problem: I can't decide which crypto I should invest in.
Even the most conservative experts have accepted that blockchain technology will be permanent. The crypto world is growing rapidly. When I started to deal cryptos, there were about 1,500 crypto currencies. As a potantial investor who wanted to get to know this world, I found this number high.
There is 3543 crypto currencies in the world today according to https://coinranking.com statistics. Which one of these are we going to invest in? The information given specifically for any crypto is not enough for me. I want to make a comparison, see the big picture. Analyzing all the cryptos is beyond a human's intellectual capacity. The most appropriate solution seems to be to start with the most valuable and common crypto currencies. This is why I decided to start with Bitcoin. I think it would be useful to examine the crypto currencies individually in order to learn about blockchain technology.
As of today, Bitcoin's total market value is 126,83 billion dollars. According to the https://coinranking.com data, the total value of the crypto world is 282,44 billion dollars. Bitcoin makes 44.9% of the crypto world.
Bitcoin's Strengths
The total number of Bitcoin, which has a 10-year history, is restricted to 21 million. There are 17.08 million Bitcoin in circulation. As time goes on, it gets hard to mine Bitcoin. It is estimated that the last Bitcoin will be released in 2136. The limited supply of Bitcoin and the rising difficulty of mining Bitcoin as time goes on have an upward impact on the price.
When I get to know this world, I remember that I was thinking: There are only 21 million bitcoins in the world, versus 7.6 billion people. I must have one of those Bitcoins!
Bitcoin plays an intermediary role exchanging other crypto currencies into fiat currencies. There are 3420 Bitcoin ATMs in the world. This number is growing rapidly. You can reach the geographic distribution of these ATMs on this link
According to the Metcalfe law, the value of a network increases in proportion to the square of the number of people using it. In this context, it is no wonder that Bitcoin, the most well-known crypto, has gained so much value with the advantage of being the first. I beleive that crypto prices will continue to increase in accordance with the Metcalfe law.
According to thehttps://bitinfocharts.com statistics, 222.997 Bitcoin transactions occured in the last 24 hours. Average transaction amount is 4,47 BTC, median transaction amount is 0,05 BTC. When these statistics are compared with other major crypto currencies, we see that the average BTC transaction amounts are high. There are 894.705 people following Bitcoin from Reddit. We see that Bitcoin is ahead of most of the statistics showing the prevalence.
There is a huge liquidity arising from the prevalence of Bitcoin. It is easier for big investors to invest in Bitcoin because it has a deeper market compared to other crypto currencies.
Bitcoin is also widely used as a payment tool compared to other Crypto currencies. Bitcoin is also less volatile compared to others.
Bitcoin's Weaknesses
One of the most important weaknesses of bitcoin is electricity consumption. According to the proof of work principle, the approval of operations in Bitcoin takes longer than modern cryptos and operations consume higher processor power.
Another weakness of Bitcoin is that the trading fees are high compared to crypto coins such as Bitcoin cash, Litecoin. The progress of the processing fees is in the following graphic, which I got from https:/bitinfocharts.com/
The functions, such as the distribution of distributed application development and smart contracts, which are valid for subsequently produced crypto currencies such as Etherium, Neo, are not in question for Bitcoin.
Conclusion
In addition to the advantages of being the first, there are disadvantages. Crypto currencies emerged after Bitcoin was founded on more advanced infrastructure by taking lessons fgrom Bitcoin. Of course, improvements are made on Bitcoin, but these improvements have not yet achieved the desired improvement over processing time and transaction costs.
If I had the right to invest in a single crypto, I would not have used my vote for Bitcoin, but if I wanted to create a crypto money, it would be appropriate to have some Bitcoin in it.
I'm not neither an investment nor a crypto currency expert. The information I share in this article should be read as the thoughts of a potential investor who is curious about the crypto world.

Kripto paraların tamamını analiz etmek bir insanın entelektüel kapasitesini aşan bir durum. Böyle olunca en uygun çözüm en değerli ve yaygın kripto paralardan başlamak gibi görünüyor. I am on the altcoins side
I think BTC will remain #1 largely because it is well known, has a vast network, and because people trust it. It's the least volatile of all cryptos. People want a good store of value over time. Bitcoin will become less and less volatile as more people use it. It will become a medium of exchange as time passes on.
btc is largely controlled and manipulated by whales , one will never know when it gonna pump or dump ... hope regulations will bring some restraints in btc price

cant say about alt coins as they r completely dependent on btc value , as more exchanges r pairing alt wid usdt ( stable coin ) that gave them their own identity to an extent

Before buying any coin,study of ups and downs of the market is must. If we have the knowledge about all this we can easily find out which coins to buy.
I am not good at technical analysis. I prefer long term investment.
Upper comment may be one way. But after selecting a broker you should ask him about his earnings. Bcoz some brokers are not having much benefits.
Lets say about real estate agent or brokers. From morning to evening they try to sell pieces of land and they tell you good things about that particular land. But most of them don't even have a single piece of land of their own.
It's pure gamble if you don't understand technical analysis. even if you trade for long term, it may happen that you stuck in same coin for two or three years.
So I'm not saying you to be specialist in technical analysis. But you should choose your broker wisely.
I recommend you to keep your strategy with long term investment, dont change your mind and play on exchanged because its not for everybody, even some players fail and doing trades daily its like a gamble when you have no clue.
I am also a long term investor, what i recommend you is to find a broker around you who does trades all day long, you can give him 10%-20% from your money and he will tell you and advice you what to do and how or when to sell or buy for a small commision. This is the only way if you want to trade daily or weekly.
But i prefer long term investment.
In fact I don't beleive in technical analysis. That's why I don't try to learn. I have a long term perspective like you.
I agree that a Crypto portfolio should include Bitcoin.
There are a lot of coins that are going to go the way of the dinosaur. I do not think Bitcoin will be one of them.
Many Bitcoins are lost forever, since people from the early days lost their private keys, so the real number of available Bitcoins is significantly less than 21 million.
Most importantly, Bitcoin's brand is unbeatable, being the father of all the other coins.
I hate that Bitcoin wastes so much electricity. That is the main problem with it. Also, Bitcoin is quite centralized in China, so there is always a risk that the Government there could order the miners to do a 51 percent attack on the coin.
Overall though, I think Bitcoin is a must-have coin for a Crypto investor. :)

Great article. I'd say do your research on various cryptos before getting involved. I'm not a fan of ripple because I've been hearing that it is centralized which goes against the the main purpose of cryptocurrency.
Cryptos that focus on being used as a mode of decentralized exchange could be a good investment but that's just my opinion.
Investing in coins with legitimate utility could also be a good decision.

There is really no ideal coins to buy at this point in the market, anything before the ETF agreement will be under a big questions mark. However, BTC retains a lot of the market's volume and is dominating the market a lot more than other Alt coins right now. I would suggest in your case to perhaps split your invested amount into 50%(to HOLD btc) and 50%(to be used on either trades with alt coins or just buying and holding altcoins). If that is what your objective is, try to be smart and don't invest all your money into 1 coin or 1 buy always spread it out. Don't forget to use the stop-loss if you are trading as well to counter this market's volatility and crazy whales who love to cause these rollercoaster rides.

It is advisable to visit Marketcap & explore top 10-15 coins ,visit their websites, explore their projects.

@muratkbesiroglu I think bitcoin is the most undervalued currency till now. Wondering why? Many experts and speculators have predicted that bitcoin price will definitely moon. But will take time for sure. We need to keep patience.
Everything which goes down, has to come up and vice versa. This cycle is not having any finish line and we should play smart if we want to earn money.
If you buy bitcoin now and sell it after 2 years, you might get 10x or even more than that. No other asset or commodity will give this much returns. But you should always consider risk in this field.

@muratkbesiroglu, invest more in STEEM, it is a better option. We have both definitely taken a close look at Steemit and have seen and noticed all of the things that it can do. We should now have confidence that the Steemit platform is here to stay and that hopefully the value of Steem will also increase.
I have already invested in Steem. I would like to diversify my portfolio.
Way to go, if I had more STEEM I would definitely go for Neo-coin. Yeah, there could be other coins but that's my take.

Smaller coins rally more, but they also fall more in a bear market. Depends on your risk appetite
Alright, this is what I started doing after taking some losses.
Total (1 BTC for example)( % may vary up to you)
-50% HODL BTC (Exodus Account for example)
-50% Use for trades on Altcoins.
Tip: Split in 5 shares of 0.1 and use that amount in each trade,
never enter all in one signal.
-Use 0.1 per signal
-And from the 0.1 u can work the laddered orders.
For example: 0.05 for 1 order, 0.05 for the 2nd order and so on.
(Due to trying to catch a direction the market is headed in)

Bitcoin is definitely the way to go. It can still have huge gains and does not have as many obvious weaknesses as the other top coins. I mean even Ethereum has flaws that can bring it down if it doesn't improve. Bitcoin seems boring but is way ahead of the game. I can't see it losing its spot any time soon.
Well I might be wrong but as Antonopoulos says Blockchain would be useful in very few industries, but today it has become a buzzword for raising VC and public funds. Certainly in 2-3 years majority of the current garbage projects would fade out. I am new to Steem world but a crypto investor since 2014 and for next 2-3 years my portfolio will certainly look like:
30% BTC ( The daddy of all)
10% ETH, 5% EOS and 5% Cardano (Platform coins)
15% exchange coins ( BNB, Blockchain.io and 0x)
10% Cross blockchains Interoperability ( Fusion, Wanchain)
5% AI related coins ( AGI or Deep Onion)
10% Crypto banks ( Crypterium and host of other coins)
5% Medical industry ( Docademic has good hype but there are other good coins in market)
5% Outsourcing/ expert connectivity platforms ( Couple of coins in this space but I would look at Experty)
Would love to know tour thoughts on this.
