After suffering a security breach in January 2019. Cryptocurrency exchange Cryptopia finally sheds some light on the subject.

On January 15, 2019, Crypteria announced via twitter: “There has been a security breach which resulted in significant losses” Immediately Cryptopias customers took to social media demanding answers! Groups of people holding large signs began to gather outside Cryptopias office shouting at anyone coming or going from the building. Immediately Cryptopia responded that though they would like to share information with their customers "However the local New Zealand police have taken control of the situation. With the ongoing investigation, Cryptopia employees were barred from sharing any information with the public.

As the next few weeks went by the lack of clear information had many people baffled. Many took to Reddit expressing deep concern for the future of their funds. Speculation began to run rampant as the police tried their best to track down the responsible parties.

It is now been nearly a month, as of February 14th employees of Cryptopia are back at work. However, the police are still a guest of the Cryptopia offices.

Later in the day Feb. 14th Cryptopia tweeted:

“We are continuing to work on assessing the impact incurred as a result of the hack in January. Currently, we have calculated that worst case 9.4% of our total holdings was stolen.”

Statements from an independent blockchain analytics company suggest the sum stolen was well north of 10 million dollars. Though without appropriate financial documents from Cryptorium all we can do is estimate what percentage. However, if the 10 million is correct. I would speculate the figure to be more like 20 to 30% of Cryptopias holdings. Only time will tell how right I am though.

I hate that this is what the crypto world has come to. people fucking over everyone else just bucause they can. Hey fuck head! Let my presious Cryptocurrency thrive in Peace!

The team at Cryptopia has a long upill road ahead of them to rebuild toothere past glory. Every security measure needs to be analyzed and there needs to be a fail-safe for every security measure taken.

Thank you so much for checking out my post.
