Whales never engage with their audiences and they're earning massive amounts of SP through poor contents, running give aways/contest to buy your attention, fake delegation campaign, sucking your SP through post promoting up-voting bots , manipulating SBD price to make you believe SBD worth more than $1.
You only got yourself to blame minnows. Educate yourself about investment. Don't sell your SP. SP will be worth 100 times more than SBD in 2-3 years.

I would invest my money in Steem power than SBD. @nathanmars this is a great pump of wisdom and sense in many of us ‘’newbies’’ on this platform.

Crypto is still in its infancy subject to several stiff criticisms from the different governments but has great hopes of growing every other day into something that is irresistible in the nearby future and this will mean a high increase in demand and value of steem.
The reason why some people power down their SP is because of their having a high marginal propensity to consume than to save and invest what they have at hand.
The reasons why I would invest in steem power than SBD
The coin market cap shows that steem is of more value and having a bigger rank than SBD therefore I would rather invest in steem which is growing more in value than SBD which still has a long way to go.
The secret of flourishing on Steemit lies in the amount of steem power one accumulates or possesses on the steemit platform. Personally i have never powered down the little steem power that I have so far accumulated in the space of 5 months I have stuck around on this platform. However most of the steem power I possess is a delegated one which is now 1052sp. With the little time I have been on Steemit and the learning I have so far acquired about steem, steem power and SBD. Investing in Steem power stands out to be the outstanding and a great step for success on Steemit and in the crypto world as a whole.
Steem power makes you more influencial on the Steemit platform in regards to earning more on curation and also attracting many steemians to your blog to have interactions and their contributions on what you are building.
Steem power enables you to earn passive income like you have mentioned above.
In a nutshell I rather invest in steem power than SBD in order not to live in regrets in future when I come to a realisation that steem has doubled and become $100 worth than SBD.

I have also noticed how those great whales publish poor content and you realize how they get so many possible votes that many people who strive to make good content also realize how they get comments and do not bother to answer any of them
As I also know whales or people with a high level that support those people who are at a low level, for example I have good friends who have supported me a lot to get ahead on the platform

I have some SBDs to take to POWER UP and keep investing in what I believe is a great investment. I do not know if you remember, I told you that sometimes I also think about selling the house (as you did), but it gives me a little fear to think about my three children and my wife. However, I already have my car for sale to pay a debt that I invested completely in SP.
Two years from now, with the help of God, we can help more people. (Meanwhile I do it, with what I have within my reach). And above all, educating people about the potential of this platform and investing in their future according to their possibilities.

It is already obvious that my investment will be base solely on SP, STEEMPOWER in the future could be liking to $100 or more in couple years time. The desire to hold on to SP we have now is imperative and getting to invest more in it since that is our future here on steemit. I have read a lot of piece indicating that there is no future for sbd, it is only created to make steem more stronger, its existence now is of great harm to steem since the price is almost equal. The need to educate ourself by getting better orientation cannot be over emphasize as far as holding on to steempower is concerned. Our future on steemit is the amount of STEEMPOWER will hold on to my friend.

The point which you are trying to make is totally right and if you match it with the real world scenario we would come to know that it all about mindset. This is the mindset which all the millionaires and billionaires have and that is why they are diffrent from ordinary people.
On steemit even if you want to get success and be somewhere you will have to be different and do things which other are not doing or if I say most of the people are not doing. You will have to be 1% of the people and take steem serioulsy because in the long run steem is which will be used as the parent currency when we get the SMT's.

If I were in steemit for a longer period of time I would no doubt invest in SP because that is the game.
I believe is the best crypto one can offer. You can buy some steem to Hodl and by powering up your account with that steem you can actually start earning SBD as well as you get some amount of steem too.
So in my view this is a cryptocurrency that multiplies, who would not Want that.
I see your contribution to this platform and I support it. I am a student so right now I don't have much to invest but some day I will invest in steem as this platform is giving a lot to people.

Now I have some knowledge of crypto market via some whales assistance. I believe yet on steem tokens. But currently harder to earn SBD or steem via create contents and comments. Huge users came to platform. But We have some biggest offer. If we can get whales attention then have chance to earn some rewards. First time harder. But be patience you can go higher.

I really agree with you on everything you mentioned here. Whales are definitely manipulating with SBD price. All I get as rewards I power up. Every SBD I earn I power up. I recently noticed many people are powering down aspecialy whales, also sooo many people are delegating to voting bots. For whatever reason they see it as easier way to earn rewards. This leads to shrinking curation rewards for real steemiens. This leads to less upvotes from real people since so many of them prefer to delegate. Voting bots are getting most of curation rewards and on top of it they get paid for their upvotes. I’m surprised how so many people are using them since they are not that profitable at all. I would even say in most cases people loose on their investments. If people really want to help this comunity, why don’t they delegate to real people instead of voting bots. I guess they don’t care much, they care for profits. Anyway, I don’t believe it will last for long this voting bots system. Something will eventually have to give up.
I would definitely invest in SP. Reason being that the more SP i have the more i can try to change what is currently going on in steemit. That is poor and low quality contents trending while real post is stuck with no upvote $0.00. I know this because have passed through the stage it was not easy i had to give up for sometimes. It was then i said to myself quiters don't win and winners don't quit. So i started the journey again until i met this great man who out of love and kindness delegated (600Sp) to me to use and curate contents while developing myself. I no 600sp create no effect on someone post but its better to see $0.90 on a post than $0.00 after 7days. So i try my best to vote and hope i could do more if i have more sp. So investing in SP is the best and i am so working towards it.

I have met some few funny people who were even trying to power down the delegated steem power given to them when they newly joined steemit.
Investment on Steem Power is a digital gold mine which SBD cannot guarantee. Just like the name implies Steem Backed Dollar(SBD) which means SBD is a subsidiary not the main currency.
One good things I love about Steem Power. It can bring SBD, steem and also more Steem Power when you curate posts.SBD cannot do that.
Whales organising contests and requesting voting the post as a cateria for one to be qualify in the contest is like bidding for upvote which he uses to build up his steem power.
Steem power is that online resources which can yield more value in few years.
Is not easy to change the mentality of people. Yesterday I called out some people about cashing out and not invest in SP on a discord server of spanish speakers and I was criticized and almost insulted by two ofended users that asked me if I'm a millonaire. Hahaha I'm just a dude facing the same economic crisis as they do. I'm sorry to hear about fake accounts of my fellow venezuelans but not all of us are the same, a visit to my wallet can prove that I have invest all my earnings in the platform. You are right SP is the real thing. According to me as I see this platform it was not only meant to earn but to invest and earn. Steemit has helped a lot of people who were poor and now they earn through this. I think one should invest in steem and hold and should also earn through that. Well you wouldnt blame minnows too much if i must say. People come i to steemit through different means. The amount of accounts we had between december and february skyrocked simply because the price of sbd was really high. I am sure they all came for the money. With a mindset like this, all the minnows think of is quick gratification which is the reason why they take it all. But having stayed long enough in the systen, i have come to have faith in steem and believe that it would bw far more valuable in the furure and i have decided never to power down. Why on earth will someone invest on sbd rather than sp?
I think majority of minnows still needs education about sbd, sp and steem
They need to educate themselves.
We live in great era that everything is available to learn within our fingertips. But most of them spend thier time playing candy crush and then come here and complain about whales are bad.

Actually, until now I haven't invested anything in my account, except the time to make my posts. If I were to invest in something it would definitely be SP. I see Steemit also from the long runperspective although I think SBD will keep up with STEEM to some extent regarding the price, but having SBD pricier than STEEM as it was for a couple of times before... no way.
Time and efforts are must needed investment. So you approach is correct.
SMT’s on STEEM is similar to ICO’s on Ethereum. With every SMT realise the demand for SP will increase. As you can see how much SP Dlive and Dtube has already.

I will answer your question. I will save it in SP, because SP is the heart of steemit account. I am currently collecting SBD and will I power up to SP, for the strength of my Steemit account. with having my SP can help newbies with original and nice content. so they grow fast. they are very happy when the value of the post is 0.10, if 2-3 years Steem price 100 fold, of course my love value increases.
