Bitcoin Defines Us vs. Them

in #bitcoin7 years ago

Recently I have been talking with some friends and family about bitcoin and all of its practical uses. The fact that it is incredibly secure and the fact that it seems to be taking over the internet. Major corporations around the world have started to see its potential and have begun investing in it because of the profit they can make not only on consumers using it for goods and services, but also because it is making them more money as its value increases. I've discussed all these things, with significant detail I might add, and my friends and family still aren't even remotely curious in investing in BTC.

Well, these conversations have left me with a realization about people and about the state of society as a whole. Many of the people I have talked to are very surprised by it being worth almost $4000 USD and many more are surprised that people are seeing it as a viable currency. They seem shut down to the idea because its a foreign concept and they have made up their minds that because it sounds too good to be true or just plain dumb because its "fake internet money" that they don't want to have anything to do with it.

This, to me, isn't just related to bitcoin, but to the rest of societal issues. If we look at the way people are approaching all the biggest political issues, we see a lot of our peers who have already made up their minds when it comes to how they approach a certain subject. No amount of fact dropping or data can change their minds, and honestly, if you don't agree with a certain agenda, you are the one that is closed minded and need to just "let go" of your opinion and submit to what everyone else thinks.

This mindset, is what sets me and you apart from the rest of society and the world. I have found that the people who are willing to give Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencys a chance are also the people that are willing to change the way the act or believe to see the greater good come out of society. We are at the forefront of one of the greatest monetary revolutions since paper currency was invented, and I am proud to say that I am open to innovation and new ideas, and bitcoin has helped me to see the world for what it really is, which is an ever changing, ever growing place where we as humans need to see past petty differences and step into places of discomfort to grow into who we are meant to be. I believe that the people like you and I who are in this for the long haul will reap the rewards of our openness to change, and that will mean financial growth for generations to come.
